Why can't Wang Xizhi and Preface to Lanting surpass it after thousands of years? What's the good thing?

I think everyone can't be more familiar with Wang Xizhi. He is like a god in calligraphy.

Although everyone knows it, I still want to elaborate on this great god here in order to make up the number of words. Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, is known as the "sage of books". Langya (now Linyi, Shandong Province) was born, then moved to Shanyin, Huiji (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province), and became the right general, known as "Wang Youjun".

everyone should look at it from two aspects: A and B. Wang Dashen's position in calligraphy is unique. After more than a thousand years, no one can surpass him. However, Wang Dashen was born in a family in big noble, and he was a proud official of the second generation. At that time, the children of such a family could not be officials if they didn't want to be officials. Therefore, although Wang Dashen is an official, his political achievements and abilities are really not high.

Wang Xianzhi, the seventh son of the Great God Wang, is also famous in the calligraphy circle. He is often compared with his father and is nicknamed "Two Kings". But on the road to being an official, I also have a fight with his father. Of course, this is a family matter, and being an official is just a pastime. Students who want to know about this history can search online by themselves.

In other artistic fields, there are Du Fu and Li Bai in poetry, eight masters in Tang and Song Dynasties in ancient prose, and Shi Naian and Luo Guanzhong in classical novels. But since ancient times, the first person who comes to mind when it comes to calligraphy is Wang Xizhi.

Then the question comes. Why?

Is it true that modern people can't write calligraphy beyond the Preface to Lanting? It's all "Lanting Preface", but why? This is also my constant confusion.

I found some information. Let's take a look at people's opinions directly (the information comes from the Internet):

First, Wang Xizhi's calligraphy, especially his running script, such as Preface to Lanting, Sunny Post on Fast Snow, etc., has the most delicate and precise brushstrokes.

Second, Wang Xizhi is between ancient and modern times, and his calligraphy is unparalleled in terms of brushwork and modeling.

Thirdly, Wang Xizhi's writing style, writing tools and work forms are in a transitional period, which determines that many characteristics of his calligraphy are difficult for future generations to achieve.

fourthly, Wang Xizhi's calligraphy is a rather personalized art, which is the product of a specific era, and people in other times can only imitate it, but can't get its essence and flavor. From Wang Xizhi's personality, we can see that he is different from later bureaucrats, literati and calligraphers such as Yan Zhenqing, Su Shi, Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang. "The king and the horse are the world." Wang Xizhi's pride in his bones is unimaginable for later generations.

Fifth, to surpass Wang Xizhi, we must know how high Wang Xizhi's level is. I don't know where the most important Lanting Preface is. At that time, Li Shimin, a fan of Wang Xizhi, tried his best to get the original Lanting Preface. He was so happy that he wanted the world to feel the calligraphy of his idol, and immediately ordered people to copy the Lanting Preface. The people who copied it were: Chu Suiliang, Ou Yangxun, Yu Shinan, Zhao Mo, Zhuge Zhen, Han Daozheng, Tang Puche and Feng Chengsu (in no particular order).

None of these eight people has surpassed Wang Xizhi in history. Modern people have to surpass them before they want to surpass Wang Xizhi. These eight people are all BOSS-level figures. Think about it. If someone claims to surpass Ou Yangxun, Chu Suiliang, etc., regardless of the level, there must be at least one group of people spraying him. This is the ethos of the times, and it is a bit difficult to see from the trend of "the highest prize of modern calligraphy".

Through the analysis of these five points, it is not difficult to find that Wang Xizhi's calligraphy achievements benefit from the right time, the right place and the right people. "Tianshi" is the transitional stage of Wang Xizhi's birth in a great change of calligraphy (the development of official script to regular script and running script), in which he also played a promoting role; "Geographical location" is the appreciation and admiration of Li Shimin, a fan, who pushed him to the altar in one fell swoop; The most important thing is "harmony between people", that is, Wang Xizhi's own superb attainments in calligraphy.

Many people have given their own opinions on how to use Wang Xizhi's calligraphy. To sum up, it lies in the perfection of the structure of words, the use of pens and the grasp of the whole.

For example, as we all know, the word "zhi" in Preface to Lanting is not the same in more than twenty words, which only Wang Xizhi can do in history. This skill makes Preface to Lanting a pinnacle of art, not just calligraphy.

This is why Preface to the Lanting Pavilion has gone through thousands of years and no one can surpass it. Wang Xizhi's status as an altar is precisely because of this that no one can shake it.

Finally, by the way, in order to write this article, I looked up information on the Internet, and an interesting thing happened.

As shown in the picture:

36 Encyclopedia actually told me that this is the original of Wang Xizhi! ! My whole cognitive system has been subverted … The Preface to the Lanting Pavilion still has its original works! ? Scared, I quickly went to Baidu for a search:

We scold Baidu every day, but in this case, Baidu is reliable.

As we all know, Li Shimin was buried with Lantingxu after his death, and his whereabouts are unknown.

However, later generations have several opinions about the whereabouts of the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion: some say that the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion is not on the list of treasures excavated by Wen Tao, so it may not have been stolen; It is also said that the Preface to Lanting was not buried in Zhaoling with Li Shimin, but in the mausoleum of Li Zhi, Tang Gaozong. Others said that when the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion was buried with Emperor Taizong, it was transferred by his sister with a fake copy, and the original remains in the world ... There are various statements.

Even though 36 and Baidu didn't choose the same copy of The Lanting Preface, we can be sure that what we are seeing now is definitely not the original. This junior high school student knows that I don't know why 36 has such a low-level mistake. Bad review! ! !
