Professional settings
The college has two provincial-level key disciplines, fine arts and design, and has the right to award doctoral degrees in the first-level discipline of fine arts. It is one of the national 15 universities, and it is a doctoral program in fine arts. There are four master's degree authorization points for fine arts, design, curriculum and teaching theory and art theory, and three master's degree authorization points for fine arts, art design and subject education (fine arts). Four undergraduate majors, namely, fine arts, painting, art design and environmental design, have been set up.

Among the 86 full-time teachers, there are 3 doctoral supervisors 18 professors18 professors, 22 associate professors and 3 foreign editors. 26 foreign experts and 18 domestic experts with national influence were invited as visiting professors. The teaching and research site covers a total area of 20,000 square meters. It has many laboratories and scientific research platforms, such as Hunan Social Science Research Base-Hunan Chinese Character Culture and Art Research Base. In the past five years, college teachers have presided over 8 national projects and 45 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects.
Departmental setup
By the end of 20 14, the college had five teaching departments, offering specialties covering Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolor, calligraphy, sculpture, visual communication design, digital media art, environmental art design, photography art, animation, fashion design and art education.
