At present, it is recognized that there are several kinds of people who study calligraphy: first, scholar calligraphers (who specialize in calligraphy and can study traditional cultures such as history, philosophy, Buddhism, aesthetics and literature at the same time); Second, booksellers; I only studied calligraphy, but I didn't learn it thoroughly. Besides, I don't read books or traditional culture. Third, interest lovers; I'm afraid this kind of fans will never learn calligraphy, but they can only say that they are writing.
Since my friend wants to learn calligraphy well so seriously, my personal suggestions are as follows:
First, fundamentally understand the history of calligraphy; There are Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Jinwen, Shi Guwen, Dazhuan, Xiaozhuan, Lishu, Weibei, Xiao Kai, Shu Hang, Cao Zhang, Dacao and Tang Kai;
Second, experience each character (seal script, official script, regular script, Tang Kai, running script, cursive script), get the boundaries between them, and finally find their pen-using methods;
Third, find a master; Han Yu will learn well that "ancient scholars must have teachers", and the process of learning calligraphy is quite challenging. If you can find a teacher who can help you (excellent in theory and technology), you will get twice the result with half the effort;
In addition, calligraphy after the Tang Dynasty can be read without being present. Don't look for so-called contemporary calligraphers, learn from the ancients. Contemporary calligraphers are actually your disciples, so why do you want to be a disciple of contemporary people?
