Linfen Martyrs Cemetery Attractions Introduction:

The Battle of Linfen, which shines brightly in the annals of history, sacrificed thousands of party and people’s lives Good sons and daughters, it is their blood that dyed the land of Linfen red and liberated the suffering people of Linfen. In order to let Linfen people never forget the great achievements of the martyrs from generation to generation, the Linfen Municipal People's Government built the Martyrs Cemetery in 1958 in the north of Yaomiao Palace in the south of the city, where the remains of the martyrs are placed centrally.

Since then, after many years of repairs and construction, planting trees and flowers, it has now become a garden with well-proportioned pavilions, halls, pines and cypresses fragrant in the wind, beautiful scenery, solemnity and tranquility. The cemetery faces north to south, with the towering Monument to the People's Heroes dominating the center.

Marshal Zhu De’s autographed inscription “The revolutionary martyrs are immortal” is engraved on the front of the monument; the inscription on the left with the glory of dying for the interests of the people is written by Marshal Xu Xiangqian, the commander-in-chief of the Linfen offensive; on the right is Shanxi in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The inscription by Comrade Wang Shiying, the governor of the province, is that he bravely championed the three armies, fought against the Japanese aggressors, and annihilated the stubborn enemies. Victory was forged with blood; the Fenliu gathered together, Gushe favored them, fighting for peace and freedom, heroes benefiting society; the back side is the province The inscription by Comrade Tao Lujia, Secretary of the Party Committee, martyrs’ ambitions bring a new future. In addition, the park also has an antique gatehouse, a pavilion, an exhibition hall for the Linfen Conquest, a "Revolutionary Heroes Memorial Hall", an "Achievements in Linfen Construction" exhibition hall, a columbarium, as well as cloisters, rockeries, winding paths, fountains, etc. The buildings are beautifully designed and well laid out. Around the building, holly is used as a fence, pines and cypresses are dotted as scenery, and the flowers compete with each other in various colors, complementing each other. The two rows of cedars to the left and right of the Monument to the People's Heroes were planted by all members of the Shanxi Provincial Advisory Committee in 1987; the 40 cedars in front of the Martyrs Cemetery were planted by the Linfen Brigade of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Linfen. These pines and cypresses planted in memory of the revolutionary martyrs, with the hard work of the cemetery workers, grow vigorously and are green all year round, enriching the landscape of the cemetery and adding vitality to the cemetery.

In the small square behind the monument, there are five brick-domed cemeteries lined up to store the remains of martyrs. There is a stone tablet in front of the tomb, engraved with the names of the martyrs; on both sides of the tomb door are carved couplets written by famous calligraphers in the provincial capital, from west to east: the martyrs wore golden armor and endured the wind and rain in the Sichuan; the green pine trees in the cemetery locked the clouds in the distant mountains. The red star that emits the spirit of the times shines on the sky and the earth; songs praising the heroes’ achievements move the cemetery. Heroes and martyrs pioneered the fortified battle; the glory will last forever in Niucheng. Pines and cypresses stand tall against the wind and frost; fragrant flowers bloom to commend the heroes of the martyrs. The great martyrs of Liang Huoshan made great achievements; the history of Tang and Yu prospered the country for a long time and opened a new chapter in history. These couplets are solemn and elegant, powerful and exciting, and fully express the people of Linfen's incomparable admiration and nostalgia for the revolutionary martyrs. The cemetery is open all year round, and visitors come to pay homage to the martyrs every day.

Every year on Tomb Sweeping Day and Linfen Liberation Day on May 17, all Linfen agencies, factories, mines, schools and garrisons gather here to lay wreaths to the revolutionary martyrs, visit the Linfen Attack Exhibition, and receive education in revolutionary traditions. There are also some families of local or foreign martyrs who come here specifically to visit the graves and mourn their loved ones. This has become a good classroom for educating young people on revolutionary traditions and revolutionary heroism.
