The 98-year-old forensic doctor died and his body was donated to his alma mater. Can you accept donations?

Graduated from the first forensic medicine major of Nanjing Medical University, engaged in forensic medicine industry for nearly 70 years. He is a famous forensic pathologist in China and the founder of forensic science in Nanjing Medical University-Professor Zhou Xueliang.

As a forensic doctor, Professor Zhou Xueliang signed a body donation agreement as early as 1998, and was the first batch of volunteers in Nanjing. Now, Professor Zhou Xueliang has left us. According to his last wish, his body has also become a silent teacher, which is Zhou Lao's final contribution to medicine.

Speaking of Zhou Lao, he is a veteran of forensic medicine in China. 1946, Zhou Xueliang was admitted to Jiangsu Medical College, the predecessor of Conan Medical University. Zhou Xueliang was a member of the first phase of the senior forensic teacher class of the Ministry of Health 19. After graduation, these students were assigned to teach forensic medicine courses in various medical schools, and forensic medicine courses were promoted in various medical schools like kindling.

From joining the work to his death, it can be concluded that Professor Zhou Xueliang worked hard in the field of forensic medicine for nearly 70 years, stayed in Xinjiang Medical College for 36 years, and later returned to South Medical University to teach. For decades, he has been sticking to the front line of forensic work.

The work of forensic doctors requires objectivity and impartiality, and provides practical and reliable basis for cases. For decades, Professor Zhou Xueliang has used his professional knowledge to restore the truth to the deceased, calm doubts and provide protection for social justice in time and time again.

"I studied this major, and finally I will devote myself to this major, so that more students have the opportunity to study." Professor Zhou Xueliang said this and did the same. Today, Professor Zhou Xueliang has stayed in South Medical University, and has also stayed in people's hearts.

Although body donation is nothing new, few people have the courage to do so because of traditional ideas. Body donation and organ donation are two different things. Organs are transplanted to patients, while remains are generally frozen and sent to medical schools or research centers to study anatomy.

For many people, it may be unacceptable to donate a corpse for an anatomy student, but as the saying goes, people die like a lamp, the spirit can be immortal, but the body will eventually rot. Why not take advantage of it and make some contributions? In medical college, the remains are called "ordinary teachers", also known as silent teachers. They teach medical knowledge to medical students with their bodies, which is worthy of respect.

However, according to the current process, the donation of remains requires not only the consent of the person, but also the consent of the family. Many times I agree, and my family members don't necessarily agree, so it is still difficult to donate the remains now. Professor Zhou Xueliang set a good example by setting an example.
