Characteristics of horizontal painting of Chinese Fu in Lu Jianzhi's Wen Fu Tie in Tang Dynasty

(1) short pointed horizontal line, as shown in the figure below. Its writing method is to put pen down along the front, from light to heavy, and pick up the pen when it is closed. This kind of horizontal painting naturally exposes the pen, and the pen will not stop.

② Long horizontal line, as shown in the figure below. This horizontal line is most commonly used in prose and is simple and easy to write. Its writing method is Feng Lu's pen, writing in the middle, slightly lifting and then lowering when closing the front, and closing quickly, showing a state of thick ends and slightly thin middle.

(3) There is a front and a cross, as shown in the figure below. Its writing is to start the pen naturally along the previous stroke, and then cross it to the right to form a sharp prism at the beginning of the pen.

(4) Take the horizontal direction, as shown in the figure below, and the word "Hua" is the penultimate horizontal direction. This horizontal stroke generally follows a long horizontal stroke with a long top and a short bottom, then stops at the end of the stroke, and picks out the tip of the stroke to the left and downwards along the stroke direction to continue the next stroke, and the stroke directions are overlapping. This horizontal painting is similar to the horizontal hook, but the angle and length of the hook are different.

(5) Pick up the cross, as shown in the figure below. The top is round and plump. When you draw the last stroke, when you run to the finish line, paddle to the left and raise your pen forward.

There are many horizontal combinations between the lines, so we should pay attention to three situations. One is the change of length, inclination, spacing and pitch. Long horizontal and short horizontal are in the same word, with different inclinations and different lengths. Some are very different in thickness, some are different in spacing, and some are similar to the point method, and the upper and lower pens are prone and upturned. Second, horizontal painting in many cases refers to the writing of regular script. Because its length and thickness are different, other strokes are flexible and changeable, so this writing method will not make people feel monotonous and dull. Third, some continuous short horizontal lines in running script are often replaced by dots or vertical lines, which is vividly shown in Lu Jianzhi's Wen Fu, as shown in the following figure.
