"How is Dai Zongfu? Qilu is still young." The tall and majestic Mount Tai has held a transcendent status in the hearts of the Chinese people since ancient times. This mountain has carried the baptism of wind and rain for 2.8 billion years, and also carries the cultural connotation of the Chinese nation's 5,000-year-old "unity of nature and man". Taishan Global Geopark is the world's first natural and cultural dual heritage and joined the Global Geopark network in 2006. It can be said that Mount Tai is a symbol of the strong and stable national spirit of the Chinese nation and a microcosm of Eastern culture.
The Past and Present of Mount Tai
The Taishan Global Geopark includes the main scenic area of ??Mount Tai and the three towns of Dajinkou, Huangqian and Xiagang, covering an area of ??418.36 square kilometers. The growth of Mount Tai is full of ups and downs, and it has gone through many ups and downs before forming its current majestic appearance.
Geologists divide its "growth" into 4 stages:
Taishan material gestation stage: starting 2.75 billion years ago, hot magma continued to rise, and then went through a series of Diagenesis and metamorphism formed the material basis of Mount Tai - the Taishan Rock Group.
Alternating subsidence stage: Between 541 and 250 million years ago, the environment in the western Shandong region alternated between marine environment and terrestrial environment.
The embryonic stage: Affected by plate movements about 250-65 million years ago, the rock strata were cut into fault blocks of different sizes, forming a terrain of "high in the north and low in the south, high in the west and low in the east". It is the prototype of Mount Tai.
Forming stage: Between 065 and 30 million years ago, affected by the Himalayan movement, Mount Tai continued to fracture and rise, and it was not until about 30 million years ago that Mount Tai took shape today.
The miraculous craftsmanship of nature
Mount Taishan rocks have a wide range of types, a wide age span, and diverse contact relationships. The geology and landforms are also very rich, and the natural landscape is beautiful.
| Pillow structure
Time: 2.75 billion years
Origin: Basalt formed by the eruption and flow of submarine volcanic rocks undergoes regional metamorphism
Characteristics: Shaped like a pillow, so it is called pillow-like structure
|Barrel-shaped structure
Cause: The cause of the "barrel-shaped structure" is relatively complicated. It is mostly thought that the magma flows and solidifies along the previously formed strata or rock gaps. Because the temperature decreases in stages, it forms a circle of concentric circular structural features.
Characteristics:
1. Most are in the shape of cylinders, and a few are elliptical cylinders and oval cylinders;
2. Cylindrical bodies are often produced in groups. Generally speaking, if the width of the rock vein is large, the number of cylinders formed will be large and the scale will be large; otherwise, the number and scale of the cylinders will be small. The width of the rock vein in the Hongmen section is about 60 meters, and there are more than 30 cylinders in it;
3. There is a stone core in the center of the cylinder, and there are several concentric circles surrounding the stone core.
|Fanzi Cliff Fanzi Cliff is located on the east side of Aolai Peak. The cliff is shaped like a giant fan, so it is named after it.
Lithology: gneissic monzogranite;
Origin: fracture cutting, primary joints
|Gongbei Stone
It is A huge boulder 10 meters long, 3.2 meters wide and about 1.5 meters thick is named because it stretches to the north. In fact, it does not point due north, but about 8° west of north, with an azimuth angle of 352°.
The vertical joints of the granite on the top of Daiding are very developed, which cut the rock into many plate-shaped rock blocks of varying thicknesses. These upright plate-shaped rock blocks cut by the vertical joints are weathered and denuded during the process. , due to the influence of gravity, collapse and toppling often occur. Gongbei stone is a product of the original upright slab rock blocks breaking and toppling under the influence of gravity.
|Three Pools Waterfall
The waterfall, commonly known as "falling water", is a flowing water landscape. The Three Pools Waterfall is because the rocks at this location are alternately soft and hard. The soft rocks are easily destroyed, while the hard rocks remain, forming three steep sills. When the water flows through, a three-level waterfall is formed.
A treasure trove of rich and colorful resources
Mount Tai’s forest coverage rate reaches 81%, and its vegetation coverage rate exceeds 90%.
There are 18,195 ancient and famous trees in Mount Tai that are more than 100 years old, which are unique among China's famous mountains. They are not only a legacy gifted by nature, but also the result of the hard cultivation and protection of Taishan people in the past generations.
Mount Taishan has lush vegetation and abundant water resources, making it the most suitable place for wild animals to live. The animals in Taishan are representatives of the mountainous and hilly areas of central and southern Shandong. There are 1 species of national first-level protected animals, 15 species of second-level protected animals, and 24 species of provincially protected animals.
