The four quintessences of Chinese culture: martial arts, Chinese medicine, Peking opera, and calligraphy.
There are many theories about the origin of opera, such as primitive sacrificial songs and dances, the farce that promoted excellence in the court since the Zhou Dynasty (you may have heard the story of Meng Yiguan), and the narrative literature and rap art that emerged in the Tang Dynasty. wait. But a more reasonable explanation is that opera was developed from a mixture of all these art forms.
It was not until the Song Dynasty that the form of opera could truly be called a mature form.
In northern China, due to economic development, performance venues such as Goulanwashe appeared. With this promotion, a mature form of opera was formed, called Song Zaju.
At the same time, in the south, local folk songs were used and Song lyrics and tunes were absorbed to sing stories, thus forming a form of opera. It is called Nan Opera, also known as Nan Opera or Opera.
In the future development, these two forms of opera continued to blend and develop, eventually forming the opera we see now.
