The "Six Methods" itself is the practical experience of ancient painting. What was elevated to theory was compiled by Xie He based on the paintings and comments of his predecessors. The characters, movements and spirits depicted are very vivid, and the brush and ink effects are very dynamic and rhythmic. In addition, Yan Liben, a painter and engineer in the early Tang Dynasty, wrote "Pictures of Emperors of All Dynasties" and "Pictures of Chariots", Zhang Xuan's works of "Mrs. Guo Guo's Spring Outing" and "Punk Lian Picture" in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, and Gu Hongzhong's works in the Southern Tang Dynasty. "Han Xizai's Night Banquet" and many other paintings and even calligraphy works have used Xie He's "Six Methods".
