1. Jin Dynasty·Gu Kaizhi's "Lushan Picture"
Gu Kaizhi was from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He was proficient in poetry and calligraphy but best at painting. The famous "Lushan Picture" can be said to be passed down from generation to generation. "Lushan Picture" is also known as "Kuanglu Picture" or "Lushan Three Gorges Bridge". This picture painted by his hand shows the beauty of nature and has the reputation of "the first landscape painting in China in the true sense". It is said that it greatly influenced the creation of landscape paintings in later generations.
2. Five Dynasties·Dong Yuan's "Xiaoxiang Picture"
Dong Yuan, known as the originator of Southern style landscape painting, was a master of painting in the Five Dynasties. He is good at painting landscapes, figures and animals. His most original works are ink landscapes. The picture "Xiaoxiang Picture" shows the landscape of the south. There are fishing boats among the quiet mountains and forests. It is still and moving, which is full of fun. This work is now collected in the Palace Museum in Beijing.
3. Sui Dynasty·Zhan Ziqian's "Spring Outing"
Zhan Ziqian was a painting master in the Sui Dynasty. He was good at painting figures, historical stories, palaces, gardens and pavilions, etc. There are many, but the one he is best at is landscape painting. He is known as the "ancestor of Tang painting". "Spring Outing" shows a scene full of spring and is the oldest picture scroll in existence. Today, "Spring Outing" is stored in the Painting Gallery of the Palace Museum in Beijing.
4. Five Dynasties·Jing Hao's "Kuang Lu Picture"
"Kuang Lu Picture" is said to be a silk ink painting created by Jing Hao during the Five Dynasties period. It is now collected in the National Palace Museum in Taipei, China. In this painting, there are cliffs and cloud forests at the foot of the mountain, although the specific method of chaffing cannot be seen. However, the majestic momentum of the mountains and the profound and ethereal mist are shown in the pen and ink, which is a step forward compared to the landscapes of the Tang Dynasty.
5. Tang Dynasty·Li Sixun's "Jiangfan Tower Pavilion Picture"
Due to his status as a royal family in the Tang Dynasty and his wealthy life, Li Sixun was particularly fond of the splendid pavilions and palaces and their beauty. The creation of magnificent green landscapes is also in harmony with the prosperous atmosphere of the Tang Dynasty and in line with the aesthetic taste of the court nobles. "Jiang Fan Pavilion" is a representative work of the style and characteristics of early Chinese green landscape paintings.
