Computer art signature design system
Some signature designers used to think that calligraphy signature is the uniqueness of individuals and the irreversibility of stroke order and its cursive code. Modern art signature should be based on western abstract art, concise and abstract, marked, and break the cursive code. I think this view is one-sided. Just look through the cursive dictionary, each Chinese character has a different way of writing, ranging from a few to dozens. Just look at the word "zhi" in Preface to Lanting Collection, which is known as the world's first running script, and there are as many as 26 places. This is also a fertile ground for many calligraphers in past dynasties. On this basis, the name combination is ever-changing. If creative design can be carried out on the basis of thousands of years of calligraphy, the cultural taste and artistic taste of signature will naturally be higher. The more reverse strokes, the lower the cultural quality.
Is the irreversibility of calligraphy strokes really like this? The development of Chinese characters is from Oracle Bone Inscriptions to Da Zhuan, Xiao Zhuan, Li Shu, Cao Zhang, Cao Jin and Crazy Grass. The stroke order of running script and cursive script is obviously different from regular script and official script. The basic purpose of this change is to seek the convenience of writing, and how to write is as convenient as possible, as long as it is not confused with each other. This is an established hidden rule of Chinese character writing. It is not a patent of modern people, and we can boldly carry forward and deepen it in signature design.
The west is indeed ahead of us in abstraction and symbolism. However, as long as we observe carefully, the signatures of celebrities and politicians in various countries on formal occasions are relatively standardized, such as Rogge and rivaldo. These phenomena are characterized by the development of writing and cultural background. From ancient times to the present, western pinyin characters have also beautified and modified the characters. But it has never formed an independent art. In modern times, many western masters have been drawing nutrition from China's calligraphy, and some of them have also used China characters in their paintings. In the development of western modern painting, not only China's lines are used, but also the interest of China's calligraphy in creation is studied. Calligraphy art is a magic weapon used by artists and designers for a long time. The depth and breadth of our signature design theory and signature design technology are still relatively low, as long as we work together. Ten or twenty years, in the field of design, it is not impossible for the world to see China.
"Calligraphy is writing, and signature is painting" equates signature with painting, which is the design concept of many signature designers. Here, I really beg to differ. Look at many designers' signature design works, and dig their brains in modeling, but the strokes are weak and tangled, lacking the most basic strokes. In signature, only by combining blank space with pen gesture, and in the various contradictory and harmonious combinations of stippling, can the strokes be filled with tangible (connected by lines) and intangible (connected by broken strokes) echoes, so as to achieve the ideal state that the situation arises, the situation stands up, the form and meaning are harmonious, and the meaning follows the rhyme. Calligraphy artists learn from nature, understand the speed and changes of calligraphy from the dynamics of various scenery in the world, and show the rich appearance and connotation of calligraphy with a strong attitude towards life. So should the signature. If the signature lacks strokes, then no matter how good the structure is, it is also a simple spatial form that is superficial and lacks appeal and vitality. It will be "painting its shape, failing to accommodate it, all fragmented and incoherent" (continued book spectrum), which is the fundamental reason why many signatures today lack the most basic aesthetic feeling.
What is the main purpose of signature design? It seeks the best shape for writing a name, provides an acceptable model for the signer to imitate and play, and finally applies it to the actual signature. This shape should be written, not drawn. This is also the main difference between signature and writing creativity in graphic design.
Zhang Xu and Huai Su's wild grass, writing like a galloping horse, flying down, like a cloud, unpredictable. Because this grass is better than this grass, it is original and integrated. For example, Huai Su's autobiography, essays in books and thousands of words: the weight of lines can be maintained in unrestrained and rough; Zhang Xu's thousands of words: the font size and line density form a very strong contrast, magnificent. Learning more cursive works of "Zhang Dian Zuisu" is of great help to grasp the overall shape of signature, control the rotation of strokes and temper the strength of lines! Yan Zhenqing's Sacrifice to the Nephew, Huang Tingjian's Zhu Shangtie, Qian, Wang Duo's cursive script Du Fu's Poems, and modern cursive scripts such as,, and so on. Are the inspiration for our iconic design. Japanese pen name calligraphy, Japanese portrait calligraphy with strong imagery, China calligraphy with few words and modern calligraphy can be used for reference in signature design. Japanese calligraphy is more free and casual than China's works. His pen name calligraphy has a strong sense of form, and his brushwork is as beautiful and tough as running water, which makes people feel the beauty of art and lines. This is very enlightening for gesture modeling and stroke transfer in signature design.
The basis of signature design is a strong ability to control smooth and coherent lines. It is the best way to acquire this ability, which is of great benefit to improve our signature design level and aesthetic ability. Although these copybooks are written vertically, we can also transplant their momentum and shape into the horizontal signature.
In order to make cursive script more varied, the same radical, or a certain part of a word, often has different writing methods and various writing methods. Through the efforts of predecessors to create and standardize, many conventional symbols have been formed in cursive script to replace a certain part of the text, and some can even replace seven or eight Chinese characters. Cursive symbols are widely used, which makes it possible to write a simple and smooth signature. It is one of the characteristics of cursive script to replace more with less and more with simplicity. Although the strokes were reduced, the general skeleton of the characters was still there, so the essence was not lost, and then it was established, and everyone knew it. Therefore, in the signature, in order to meet the needs of the overall composition, the small strokes can be appropriately reduced or deformed, but it is impossible to make them unrecognizable by following certain statutes. This is not creation, but distortion and destruction.
China's calligraphy and signature design all express various complex artistic conception and interest with simple line modeling. However, each of them has its own emphasis: the highest pursuit of calligraphy beauty lies not in its formal beauty, but in its internal conceptual beauty. Excellent pen and ink skills are all for this purpose. In calligraphy, the requirements for lines themselves have always advocated perfection and meticulousness, but in the composition of words, they have always opposed the deliberate pursuit of workmanship and simple carving. For example, Fu Shan, a great calligrapher in the late Ming Dynasty, advocated four "No's"-Ning Zhuo is not clever, rather ugly than flattering, rather fragmentary and not fluent, rather straightforward and not arranged. The neighbor's "unintentional Yoga Yu is the best" emphasizes the highest level of stroke combination techniques in art, which makes people unable to see the existence of combination techniques. Therefore, the sacred products handed down from generation to generation are all caused by mentality. For example, the world's first running script, Preface to the Lanting Pavilion, was excited by Wang Xizhi. The second running script in the world, Sacrifice to a Nephew, was written when Yan was sad and angry. In Huai Su, there is also a case where "there is a little anger in the chest, and suddenly it is called three or five times, and there are thousands of words all over the wall". These are the results of superb technology and inspiration.
Artistic signature also pays attention to superb techniques and creative passion. However, under the background of high-tech era and knowledge economy era, influenced by the aesthetic concepts of internationalization, modernization and commercialization, artistic signatures pay more attention to formal aesthetic feeling, emphasizing concise and vivid modeling, smooth style and rich connotation, which gives people a strong visual impact and evokes various complex aesthetic images. This feature makes the artistic signature separate from calligraphy and closer to graphic design. The characteristics of signature and strong market demand promote its development into an independent art category. If we can have a large number of high-quality employees, it will add fuel to the flames.
