In 1990, the second volume of "Selected Paintings of Zhang Gao" was published by Hong Kong British Alibaba Co., Ltd. He was awarded the honorary certificate of the American Pastel Painting Association in New York. In October 1998, he was invited to the Royal Federation of Fine Arts and the Royal Invited by the Watercolor Association, he went to the UK for the third time to hold a painting exhibition and publish a painting album. In 2002, the third large-scale album "Zhang Gao's Painting Collection" was published in Xi'an. In 2011, "Chang'an Spirit - Exhibition of Works by Shaanxi Contemporary Chinese Painting Masters" toured Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. During his long and arduous artistic career, he based on the tradition of Chinese painting, extensively and deeply learned from Chinese and foreign cultural and artistic resources, actively explored the spirit and expressive potential of Chinese painting, and led Shaanxi art with abundant creative passion and outstanding artistic achievements. The direction and trend of art have made great contributions to the prosperity and development of Chinese art.

The touring exhibition has aroused great repercussions in various places. It is undoubtedly the pinnacle presentation of contemporary Shaanxi art. It has important cognitive significance and academic value for the art theory community to deeply analyze the development process of Shaanxi art after the "Chang'an School" and grasp the new pattern of contemporary Shaanxi art. Zhang Gao has a collection of paintings with a seal stamped on the cover: "Saucy Beard", which he said is a curse word used by the Hui people in West Street and refers to a male sheep for breeding. The vulgar language was spoken to my mind. It was the first time for me to experience it, and it felt very fresh. When he opened it, there was a whole book of Western line drawings of the female body, which he obviously copied from somewhere. Although it was not as rigorous as the academic school, it showed his extraordinary passion. It was in the middle of the "Cultural Revolution". (Referring to the period from 1968 to 1970) Zhang Gao disdained Chen Chen Xiangyin's old tunes in painting, but he was very close to Mr. Shi Lu. There were rumors that he had a "monopoly" on Shi Lu at the Beijing Hotel. In fact, it was just that he wanted to take care of his teacher and cultivate a more "kaixian" spirit in this creative master. At the end of the 1970s, Zhang Gao studied under Professor Li Kuchan of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. By then, he was no longer tied to a boat, completely unfettered and unfettered. He still went his own way, and his painting style became increasingly Beautiful. I almost believe that Zhang Gao is an "Eastern Japanese devil" at heart. Because he loves to mix foreign wine with "Erguotou" and coffee with "Biluochun". The colors used in his paintings are gorgeous and the brushstrokes are smooth, but they always reveal some "Oriental flower cloth"-style coquettishness. Zhang Gao is well versed in the artistic conception and charm of Chinese painting, but he does not pursue the desolation of the ancients, nor the tranquility of literati paintings. There is little pity and sorrowful weather in his calendar, but there is thriving enthusiasm and aestheticism.

In the 1990s, Zhang Gao visited frequently. After returning, he painted a batch of rare flowers for the British Royal Palace. Their magnificence and grace are rarely seen in Chinese paintings. Occasionally, some of his favorite naked women are embedded in it. Its outrageousness and boldness once again surprised me. Perhaps, art is originally the art of pleasing oneself. The first thing is to be moved by oneself, otherwise there will be no other people moved. "If your performance or writing makes people feel that you are not doing it to please yourself, but you are doing it for them, they will instinctively feel disgusted and resisted," Towon said. I think Zhang Gao's uniqueness and narcissism have at least established his solo value. Far better than those who follow the same pattern.

I visited the United States with Zhang Gao in 1998. We stayed together for more than a month, and I really wanted to find a word to describe my impression of him.

Seven years older than me, he was like an over-energetic lunatic in the United States. He would drink and make jokes, or make jokes, without restraint. Ladies said his smile was like a "blooming chrysanthemum" filled with the passion of love. Or he stays up all night filming love-related TV screens; or he asks everyone he meets, searching for love-related pills in the United States; he doesn’t really care what others think. I saw a naked Zhang Gao. A year ago, I met him again and learned that he had spent three years studying computer programming in Shanghai with the purpose of developing an authentic calligraphy library for Xi'an Forest of Steles to compete with Taiwan's "Han Ding". And the use of "organic light-emitting display technology (OLED) - a kind of advanced painting carrier. I was surprised to see Zhang Gao who dared to think and act alone in the world.
