Cui yuan motto

The motto of Cui Yuan in the Eastern Han Dynasty

No one is short and no one is long.

Be careful when giving and don't forget when receiving.

The reputation of the world is insufficient, and benevolence is the discipline.

What's the harm in denigrating mediocrity?

Don't make the name too real, and keep the holy land of fools.

Nirvana is precious, and warmth contains light.

The weak are born to be human, and the old commandments are strong.

Because it is too long to introduce, it is difficult to measure.

Be careful what you eat and drink, and the contented will always be happy.

Perseverance will last a long time.

Cui Yuan was a great scholar, calligrapher and scholar in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Cui Yuan was very impulsive when he was young. His brother was killed, so he killed his enemy in a rage and ran away alone. A few years later, the imperial court granted amnesty and returned to his hometown. On the basis of summing up his rough experience, he wrote a self-warning sentence, so he called it a motto, and the word motto began.

Vernacular translation

Don't dwell on the shortcomings of others, and don't brag about your own advantages.

Don't think about being nice to others, and don't forget to accept others' kindness.

The praise of the world is not to be envied, as long as you take kindness as your code of action.

Judging whether it is in line with benevolence before acting, what harm does other people's slanderous remarks do to themselves?

Don't let your reputation surpass reality, stupidity is appreciated by saints.

The quality of white is precious, even if it penetrates into black, it will not change color.

There is no light on the surface, but there is light inside.

The weak are the foundation of survival, so I try to avoid the brave winning and the strong dying.

Shallow, stubborn and straightforward, but the villain insists on this as a virtue.

A gentleman is leisurely and restrained, and it is difficult for others to guess!

A gentleman should be cautious in speaking, frugal in eating and drinking, and satisfied with his feet in order to get rid of the ominous.

Practice for a long time, and it will smell good over time.
