Jingu Temple: We entered Wutai Mountain from South Road and passed the toll gate archway. It's not far. This magnificent temple standing on the north hillside of the highway is the largest temple in the hinterland of Taihuai. This Jinge Temple is located on Jinge Ridge, north of Nantai and south of Zhongtai, with an altitude of 1.900 meters. In addition to Taiding Temple, Jinge Temple has the highest terrain. The temple is about fifteen kilometers away from Taihuai Town.
The Golden Pavilion Temple was built in Dali, Tang Daizong in the fifth year (AD 770) by Indian exorcists. According to the twenty-fourth year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, a monk from the south of the Yangtze River came to Wutai Mountain to worship Buddha. He dreamily saw the legend of the Golden Pavilion floating here. At that time, bronze was cast into tiles and the tiles were coated with gold. In the name of alloy pavilion, the whole temple is resplendent and magnificent, and the magnificent scenery of Jingu Temple at that time can still be seen from Dunhuang murals. Moreover, Master Bukong, as the main founder of Tantric Buddhism, opened a Dojo in Jingu Temple to translate Tantric rituals, so Jingu Temple enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad and is also a model of cultural exchange between ancient China and India.
The existing temple buildings and statues of the Golden Pavilion Temple were formed after being repaired and supplemented in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China. The whole temple covers an area of 2 1000 square meters, with 160 halls and buildings. There are two courtyards in the Temple of the King of Heaven, separated by two floors of buildings, and they go upstairs with the kiln. The main building in the front yard is this two-story pavilion. The pavilion is dedicated by Guanyin Bodhisattva. This bronze statue of Guanyin is as high as 17.7 meters. It is the highest and largest icon of Wutai Mountain. It extends to the cabinet above the pavilion on the second floor. We must look up to see Guanyin's face. The bronze statue was cast in the fourth year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1525). Later generations decorated the bronze statue with clay gold makeup and added 48 arms, named Guanyin with a thousand hands. On both sides of Guanyin, these two tall statues, a man and a woman, are the parents of Guanyin, King Miao Zhuang and his wife. This is based on Zhao Meng, Miao Mu and Si Si, calligraphers of the Yuan Dynasty, who returned from bathing and shook their guns six times. But after Guanyin came to China, most of the statues and images were made by women. The twenty-four statues on the two walls of Guanyin Pavilion are called the twenty-four celestial realms, that is, the twenty-four guardians. It turns out that there are only 20 protectors in Indian Buddhism. After being introduced into China, the four gods in Taoism were added, so there were 24 days. In the southwest corner of Guanyintai, there is also a statue of Tang Daizong Li Yu who built Shimonoseki Jingu Temple. Guanyin Bodhisattva is flanked by Manjusri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.
