Professor Huang Yun pays equal attention to artistic creation and theoretical research. The seal cutting work (1983) won the first prize in the national seal cutting collection and appraisal, and the calligraphy work (1993) won the national prize in the fifth national calligraphy seal cutting exhibition. His works have participated in all previous national book fairs, all previous national young and middle-aged calligraphy and seal cutting exhibitions and all previous national seal cutting art exhibitions. He has participated in many international exhibitions, such as Japan Overseas Book Fair and Korea's 1 1 International Art Exhibition. His works have been collected by Zhongnanhai, Maozhuxi Memorial Hall and museums and art galleries at home and abroad. Over the past ten years, he has written more than 60 academic papers on the history of calligraphy and seal cutting, which have been published in various professional journals such as Calligraphy Research, China Calligraphy and China Seal Cutting. He has participated in many international calligraphy seminars, such as the International Calligraphy History Seminar, Hanyang University' 96 International Academic Conference, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong' 97 China International Academic Conference. Invited to give lectures at Central College, Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts, Chinese University of Hong Kong and other domestic and foreign universities.
He has written The Complete Works of China's Calligraphy-Dong Qichang Volume, Notes on Dong Qichang's Calligraphy, The History of Ancient India in China, The Complete Works of China's Calligraphy-Zheng Xie Volume (in cooperation with Professor Zhou), The General History of China's Calligraphy-Yuan Ming Volume, etc. The textbook Calligraphy Seal Cutting edited by Huang Yun published by Higher Education Press has been reprinted100000 copies. His History of China's Ancient Indian Theory fills the gap in this research field. Calligraphy History of Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties was designated by the Ministry of Culture as one of the key teaching materials in art colleges in 1996.
