Historical legend of circus platform

Regarding the circus and its strategic position, Su Shi, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, once had such a grand theory: "The city is blocked by water on three sides, there is a pool under the tower, and the only one in the south is open to traffic, while the circus is in the middle, ten feet high and with a wide stride. If you use the world, thousands of people will be stationed there, and the wooden guns and stone fans will defend themselves, so as to combine the city and accumulate food for three years. Although it is not easy for 100,000 people. " It can be seen that Xiang Yu, as a strategist, built a circus platform, not only for leisure and entertainment, but also for strategic considerations. However, Xiang Yu is not a politician after all. He didn't fall under Qin Bing's axe, but was crushed to death by the Han army holding high the banner of righteousness. From this point of view, Xiang Yu won militarily and lost politically. Since ancient times, "the winner is king, and the loser is kou", but for Xiang Yu, people are constantly talking about heroes. This is also the main reason why people have been hanging on the circus since ancient times. In 4 16 AD, Emperor Wudi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty won a great victory in the Northern Expedition, led his troops over Pengcheng, which coincided with the Double Ninth Festival, and held a banquet in the circus to strengthen his military strength. Chu Guangxi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, said in his poem "Climbing the Horse Stage": "Tianmen is the great father, and the sixth army in cornus, Jiuri Mountain." It is written that Emperor Wu of Song was present in the circus at the banquet of the Double Ninth Festival. In 450 AD, Tuoba Tao of the Northern Wei Dynasty set up a carpet tent on the circus stage. He is ingenious and looks around the city. Throughout the dynasties, civil servants, military commanders and poets poured in, or boarded the high platform to lament, or caused nostalgia for the past, such as Xie Lingyun, Zhang Ji, Su Shi, Chen Shidao, Wen Tianxiang, Sadula, Yuan Mei and Yan.

Ximagutai has experienced many vicissitudes. Since Xiang Yu, the overlord of Chu, built a high platform among rocks and thorns, later generations have built buildings on the platform out of the need to admire heroes. Fengyun Pavilion is the most famous and can be used as a symbol of the circus. Fengyun Pavilion, also known as Xibei Pavilion, was built in the 28th year of Qing Daoguang. It has double cornices, hexagonal pecking, glazed tiles and red columns. It is more than three feet high and stands upright in Taichung, which is quite elegant. There is a four-character seal under the south eaves: "Henceforth". The stone tablet in the pavilion is engraved with the word "circus stage", which is simple and solemn and magnificent, adding a lot of color to the circus stage. Unfortunately, due to frequent floods and military disasters in Xuzhou, most other buildings have collapsed. In modern times, there is only room for Fengyunge to stand on the wide countertop.

Sometimes, at the beginning of 1986, the Xuzhou Municipal People's Government built a circus according to the official architectural style of the Qing Dynasty in memory of Xiang Yu, a tragic hero who overthrew the tyranny of the Qin Dynasty. The reconstructed ancient platform is rigorous in structure, symmetrical in layout, scattered and elegant. Take a hundred steps. Through the Moon Gate, you can have a panoramic view of the majestic circus: Fengyun Pavilion stands on the central axis, with a variety of customs; The magnificent tripod stands upright with its head held high, which is amazing; On the partition wall, the words "Mountain Climbing to Conquer the World" stand out. The new plastic stone statue of Xiang Yu in the East Courtyard is full of heroic spirit. There are many wall carvings in two halls and yards. It vividly reflects Xiang Yu's life. There is a climbing platform on the left of Fengyun Pavilion, followed by a circular stele gallery inlaid with poems sung by ancient and modern calligraphers on the circus platform. There is a lonely stone in the yard. From one side, it looks like a general's majestic posture, and from the other side, it looks like a grimace, which is taken from Li Qingzhao's poem about Xiang Yu's "Life is a hero, and death is a ghost hero". Winter goes and spring comes, and spring is full. Boarded the circus, think of predecessors' achievements, can't help but lyrical poetry:

The circus stage sung by Fang Xiaoru in Ming Dynasty is located at the top of Nanshan Mountain outside the south gate of Xuzhou Ancient City. According to historical records, in 206 BC, after the successful anti-Qin war, Xiang Yu established himself as the overlord of the western Chu, built Pengcheng as its capital, and set up a platform in the cage valley to watch the Terracotta Warriors. Although Xiang Yu was defeated in the battle between Chu and Han, the circus has become an eternal and glorious relic of Western Chu.
