But in the history of Gao Qiu, although the official residence is Qiu, it is far less powerful than in the novel.
On the contrary, among his contemporaries, there were six people who were really in power. None of these six people came to a good end. They are called "Six Thieves".
Today we will tell their story.
The six thieves of the Northern Song Dynasty were all figures in the Song Huizong era. Headed by Cai Jing, it is composed of Tong Guan, Wang Fu, Liang Shicheng, Zhu CuO and Li Yan.
These six men held important positions, worshiped each other, and were deeply trusted by the Emperor Song Huizong. They formed gangs for personal gain and did whatever they wanted.
Take Cai Jing as an example. Cai Jing is a calligrapher, so is Song Huizong. Artists, whether monarchs or ministers, have the same voice and appreciate each other, which extends to Song Huizong's almost infinite indulgence of Cai Jing in politics.
During Cai Jing's administration, corruption, cronyism, exclusion of dissidents, deception.
Cai Jing's son married the princess, and he became a relative of the country, even more unscrupulous.
Speaking of it, Cai Jing also experienced several ups and downs at first, and then he met Song Huizong under the recommendation of Tong Guan.
And Tong Guan himself is a traitor. Tong Guan was brought up by eunuchs, and since he was a child, he learned to sense motive and intrigue. He was in cahoots with Cai Jing, who once held military power in the imperial court.
He tried to quell the Fang La Uprising and suffered a crushing defeat at the gates of Youzhou. Generally speaking, he is not an excellent military commander, but a mediocre man.
Many deeds of Gao Qiu in Water Margin do not belong to Gao Qiu in history, and those deeds, especially those about military affairs, are actually done by Tong Guan in history.
In order to please Song Huizong, Cai Jing, Tong Guan and other six people also set up a "flower stone class", which caused a sensation all over the world and set off an uprising in the southeast.
Soon, the Jin army destroyed Liao and attacked Song.
None of the six men came to a good end. Except Cai Jing, who was demoted and died of fear, all the others were executed by Song Qinzong.
Courtiers called these six people "six thieves" and thought they were the guilty ministers who led to the decline of the country.
In fact, we can see that the so-called "six thieves" are all Song Huizong's problems in the final analysis. It was Song Huizong, the artist emperor, who was greedy for pleasure and poor in government affairs, which led to "six thieves running amok", chaos in the world and national subjugation.
I wonder if it is ironic to call this king of national subjugation a "saint" in Water Margin?
