Introduction to Jiao Yanfeng

Jiao Yanfeng (1931.10-1995) was born in Gaomi, Shandong. Also known as Villager, Sanling Savage. He has been fond of painting since he was a child and is very accomplished in New Year pictures, comics, Chinese paintings, calligraphy and other aspects. He has successively served as the art artist of Gaomi County Cinema, the art cadre of Gaomi County Cultural Center, the professional painter of Weifang Painting Academy, and the cadre of Weifang City Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In 1985, he was appointed as a first-level artist by Weifang Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Weifang Traditional Chinese Painting Academy. Member of the Chinese Artists Association, director of the Chinese Folk Paper-cutting Society, and vice chairman of the Weifang Artists Association. In the early stage, he was engaged in New Year painting creation, specializing in Chinese painting and folk art research. His works include New Year paintings "Before the Flood", "Qiao Girl", comic strips "Journey to the West", etc. New Year painting "Building embankments to prevent floods and ensure a good harvest" (cooperation) collected by the National Art Museum of China. He has been engaged in the investigation and research of folk customs and folk art for a long time. In 1984, he organized the Shandong Gaomijian Art Exhibition in Beijing and mentored many rookies in folk paper-cutting. Published papers such as "Talk about Gaomi Folk New Year Pictures" and "Gaomi Traditional Paper-cutting".
