Huineng (638-713) was a monk in the Tang Dynasty. The common surname is Lu, who lost his father at the age of three and came from a poor family. He lived a little longer by cutting and selling firewood. At the age of twenty-four, he left his mother to become a monk, and went to visit Master Hong Ren, the fifth ancestor of qi zhou. I am a novice, and I have been working hard with everyone, stepping on the rice. Later, because he wrote a poem about Buddhism, he was praised by Hong Ren and instructed him to pay for clothes, becoming the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism. Due to the fierce competition for ancestral position within Buddhism at that time, Huineng was in distress many times and finally hid in seclusion among hunters for fifteen years. After forbearance, Huineng began to preach the law and receive the precepts. Since then, Buddhism has developed for more than 30 years and spread widely. Wu Zetian and Tang Zhongzong heard about their fame, and wrote to Beijing for many times. They all resigned because of an old illness, but they didn't send a letter. At the age of seventy-six, he went to NSW to die. There are two core ideas, one is that you have Buddha nature, and the other is that you have an epiphany and become a Buddha. In the history of Buddhism in the world, he is a thinker who combines Chinese and Western Buddhist thoughts.
