Affected by the epidemic, Hongshixia in Yulin is temporarily closed to the public.

Hongshixia in the north of Yulin is a low valley with red mountains on both sides, hence the name Hongshixia. In Yulin City, military commanders, literati and scholars who have been guarding the border in the past dynasties all came to Hongshixia to engrave characters, and then a cliff stone carving calligraphy community was formed in Hongshixia, known as the stele fort. However, due to the recent epidemic in Shaanxi, according to the epidemic prevention and control arrangements, the scenic spot will be closed to the outside world.

Ladies and gentlemen,

According to the latest epidemic prevention and control work arrangement in Shaanxi Province, Yulin Hongshixia Scenic Area and Zhenbeitai Great Wall Scenic Area are temporarily closed from now on, and the recovery time will be announced separately.

It is everyone's responsibility to prevent and control the epidemic. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Park closure announcement

Hongshixia, located about 5 kilometers north of Yulin City, is located in Yuxi Gorge at the foot of Lipstick Mountain in the Ming Great Wall. Locals also call it "Lion Gorge". Because the mountain is full of red stones, it is named Hongshixia. The valley is beautiful, full of grottoes and ancient temples.

Xia Hong rubbings are divided into east and west parts. Most of them are works from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Although they are not very old, there are many famous Mo Bao. On the east cliff of Hongshixia, there are more than 80 inscriptions, most of which were carved in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. Among them, Yu Xi Resort by Zuo and Return My Rivers and Mountains by Ma Zhanshan are the most famous. On the western cliff of Hongshixia, there are about 30 inscriptions, some of which are special inscriptions combining yin and yang, and a Mongolian stone carving "Tiancheng Xiongxiu", which is worth visiting.

The earliest remains of the Red Gorge are temples and grottoes in the Song and Yuan Dynasties, but now, except for some paintings and sculptures in caves, the rest have disappeared. Among the existing grottoes, the fourth and sixth grottoes are still worth seeing. The carvings on the top of the fourth and sixth holes are well preserved, and the design of the sixth hole also has the significance of the Mongolian and Han families. If you come to the grottoes in summer, you will feel very cool. Visitors can also walk from here to Tianmen at the top of the cliff and the underground gate leading to water in the canyon.

The Red Gorge is also the location of the movie "Ashes of Time", which is suitable for visiting at ten o'clock in the evening. At this time, the canyon under the sunset glow is very artistic. Visitors can also walk from the west cliff to the bottom of the canyon, where Yuxi River flows, making this northwest frontier fortress look beautiful in the south of the Yangtze River. If you come here in summer, you can play with water on the beach by the river.
