The Origin of Jumping Bamboo Carving

The origin of Huangyan Marble Bamboo can be traced back to Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty. According to the available data, it is the earliest bamboo carving place in Zhejiang, which was created by folk bamboo carving artist Chen. Xixiang, Huangyan is rich in bamboo, and there are many artists engaged in bamboo products in rural areas. During the Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, a master of bamboo art in Caiyang Village, Dongshan, made bamboo baskets, bamboo boards and bamboo boxes with exquisite craftsmanship. Before the products were sold, they were sent to Chen's workshop and asked to carve patterns on bamboo products, which greatly increased the price. Inspired by this, Chen cooperated with the master to split the bamboo spring from the bamboo, made it into a palm-shaped palm fan, carved with landscapes of people, and called it "elegant fan" to show that it was different from cattail fan, paper fan and banana fan, and it sold well for a while. At the same time, Chen is also engaged in the business of bamboo carving couplets, which is very popular. At that time, the calligraphy of Huangyan county magistrate was very good, and the great calligrapher Zhao was the aide. When Sun is overwhelmed, he often asks Zhao to write for him. When he saw that Chen had high carving skills, he invited the official's son to carve bamboo couplets, and paid 120 cymbals a day. This kind of couplet is elegant and simple, and it is very popular. Calligraphy bamboo couplets written by Zhao and carved by Chen can still be seen in Huangyan. At that time, there were two bamboo carving shops in Huangyan Chengguan, one was Shizhu Pavilion operated by Chen and his son, and the other was Zheng Yichang. 1929, Huangyan bamboo carving couplets won the silver prize of Hangzhou West Lake Expo. 1933 won the special prize of Nanjing National Arts and Crafts Exhibition. The back flip spring sales were not prosperous, the Shizhu Pavilion barely maintained, and Zheng Yichang closed down after several twists and turns. By the end of 1940s, there were less than 65,438+00 bamboo carving artists in Huangyan.

After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), with the support of the government, the production of double-reed bamboo carvings has been restored and greatly developed in the future.

1In the early summer of May, 964, Mr. Guo Moruo, who had long admired Huangyan's reputation of rejuvenating the spring, came to Huangyan and spoke highly of it. "Spring bamboo carving can adopt the artistic technique of traditional Chinese painting, and painting and carving techniques are integrated into one furnace, with painting, engraving and printing, forming a poetic handicraft, which is really worthy of being one of the' three major sculptures in Zhejiang'". He also collected a palm fan carved by the late old artist Mr. Chen according to Tang Yin's works, and later collected it in the Shanghai Museum. In the same year, CCTV (the predecessor of CCTV) made a special trip to Huangyan to shoot the whole process of bamboo carving with double reeds and broadcast it to the whole country.

In the late 1970s, due to the rapid rise of western handicrafts, oriental handicrafts (bamboo carvings with flip springs, etc. ) gradually declined.

1998 With the support of huangyan district government, the production of Huangyan skin flap has been restored and greatly developed. With the efforts of Zhejiang arts and crafts master Luo, a song of triumph was played. 1999 flip spring products won the gold medal in China Folk Art Exhibition in Zhejiang Province in 2000, 200 1 year, 2002 and 2003, the gold medal in the 6th China Master of Arts and Crafts and the China Arts and Crafts Expo, and the silver prize in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th National West Lake Exposition in Hangzhou. At the Expo, he was praised by Qiao Shi and other relevant leaders. Zhejiang Daily, Zhejiang TV Station, Taizhou TV Station and other media have carried out publicity reports.
