Du Mu's Qixi Poems

China Valentine's Day, also known as Qiaoqi Festival, Qijie Festival, Daughter's Day, Beggar's Day, Chinese Valentine's Day, Niuniu Festival and Qiaoxi Festival, is a traditional folk festival in China. Valentine's Day in China evolved from the worship of the stars, and it is Seven Sisters's birthday in the traditional sense. Because of the worship of Seven Sisters on the seventh day of July, it was named Tanabata.

It is the traditional custom of Qixi to worship the seven sisters, pray, seek skillful art, sit and watch morning glory and weave stars, pray for marriage and store water on Qixi. After historical development, Tanabata has been endowed with the beautiful love legend of "Cowherd and Weaver Girl", making it a festival symbolizing love, thus being regarded as the most romantic traditional festival in China, and even having the cultural meaning of "China Valentine's Day" in contemporary times.

Du Mu (803-852) was born in Mu Zhi in Jingzhao Wannian (now Xi, Shaanxi). The grandson of Du You, a writer and prime minister in the Tang Dynasty. During the Daiwa period, he entered the Korean exam as a scholar and became a school book lang. He has served as secretary of Huainan Provincial Administration, judge of Xuanzhou Youth League Training, assistant of imperial history in the temple, internal worship, left vacancy, compilation of history museum, secretary of school history, and external secretariat of Huang, Chi, Mu and Hu.

Honest, informal and arrogant. Conceited and resourceful, poetry is famous. The most famous work in this article is "A Fang Gong Fu", whose poems are lively and meaningful, and the quatrains are especially praised, which is known as the world's small Du. Just like Li Shangyin, they are collectively called "Little Du Li". His representative works include Bo Qinhuai, Spring in the South of the Yangtze River, Red Cliff, and Understanding Jiangting Pavilion, which are well known to everyone.

Du Mu advocates that all works should be based on meaning, supplemented by qi and guarded by words, and has a correct understanding of the relationship between content and form of works. Influenced by Du Fu and Han Yu, Du Mu's ancient poems have a wide range of themes and strong brushwork. His modern poems are famous for their beautiful words and ups and downs. The seven-law "Early Wild Goose" expresses the nostalgia for the people in the northern frontier displaced by the Uighur invasion, and it has a graceful and lingering taste.
