Opening hours of Junshan Temple in Jiangyin in 2020

In 2020, the opening hours of Junshan Temple in Jiangyin are 8:30- 17:30 every day.

Junshan Temple was formerly Guangfu Temple in Gan Ming, Jiangyin. According to historical records, the temple was originally a second courtyard. First, it was built by Tang Ganzhen (927-928), and it was called worshipping saints. Song Taiping Xingguo (976-983) granted a clear amount. Second, it was built between the Northern Song Dynasty and He Zhi years (1054- 1055) and was named Huazang, namely Gan Ming Academy. In Zhiping (1064- 1067), longevity was given the name. Shaoxing (1131-162) was changed to Guangfu in the Southern Song Dynasty. Avenue was merged into a temple in the ninth year (1 173). Because of its strict sacrifice and open control, this temple is the tallest among all the temples in the city. The Monk Order Department (today's Buddhist organization) is located in it. For thousands of years, after several ups and downs, it was finally destroyed by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom War. A generation of mountain leaders has declined. The original site of Ganming Guangfu Temple is in the area of Minyun Lane, Zhongshan Park and Chengjiang Fudi in the city, and it has now become a bustling urban area. However, there are still thousands of ancient films, four-eyed ancient wells, heart sutra inscriptions and other Buddhist treasures in its ruins, which have been properly protected. In the early 1990s, in order to meet the needs of religious activities of believers, Jiangyin Municipal People's Government specially set aside 50 mu of Junshan treasure land to rebuild Gan Ming Guangfu Temple (referred to as Junshan Temple).

Junshan Mountain is located at the northwest end of Jiangyin City, backed by the Yangtze River, with an altitude of 72.5 meters and an area of 404,000 square meters. The old name has a bird's-eye view of Jiangshan, and later it is named after Spring: The old name says, "This mountain is flat and uplifted, with its bow back facing the river and surrounded by peaks in the city. Looking at Weiyang in the north, Gusu in the south, Wang Le in the sea in the west, and Jingjiang in the west, it is a scenic spot, and the heroes rise together. " Building a temple on this mountain, taking the beauty of the mountain, is better than the shape, which is auspicious and shows the spirit of fairyland, and has a unique geographical advantage.

The reconstruction project of Junshan Temple aims at carrying forward the glory of ancient temples and innovating temples, and deliberately creates "famous temples in southern Jiangsu, famous scenic spots in port cities and famous scenic spots in tourism". The planning and design takes the south slope (southwest) of Junshan Mountain as the central axis and opens up five terraces. According to Buddhism, the Shanmen, Tianwang Temple, Bell and Drum Tower, Ursa Mahayana Hall, Guanyin Hall and Tibetan Classics Hall are arranged from bottom to top, and the Bodhi Pagoda is built on the top of the mountain, which is attached to the left and right. Because the model is grand, it is decided to plan once and implement it by stages.

1993 began the arduous terrain transformation, and the first phase of the project was promoted with the symbol of Daxiong Hall. The foundation stone of Daxiong Hall was laid on1February 6, 1996, the beam was laid on1June 1996, and was completed on1June 1997. During this period, the main halls such as the front desk, the Heavenly King Hall, the mountain gate and the ancestral hall were built one after another. At this point, Junshan Temple has begun to take shape, showing a magnificent posture, with the ability to hold large-scale religious activities and receive tour groups at home and abroad.

Today, we approach Junshan Temple from Junshan Road, a spacious urban trunk road, and climb the mountain gate. The foyer along the central axis was in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Jade bucket is dignified and steady, with upturned cornices and yellow glazed tiles on the roof, which is even more magnificent. The plaques of "Junshan Hall" and "Tianwang Hall" on the mountain gate were inscribed by the great monk Song Chun, and the fonts were dignified and vigorous. With a height of 22 meters and a building area of 925 square meters, Daxiong Hall stands tall. The plaque of "Daxiong Hall" under the double eaves of the flying rafters is Mo Bao of the famous calligrapher Liu Bingsen. The Hall of Great Heroes enshrines three giant buddhas, namely Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha and Pharmacist Buddha. The clear height of Sakyamuni Buddha in the middle is 6.8 meters, and the Buddhism is solemn and kind. On the east and west sides are painted statues of 24 days. In the middle of the back of the hall is a Guanyin statue, White Marble Island. There are two large reliefs embedded in the east and west walls of Daxiong Hall. There is a scene of Sakyamuni Buddha on the east side and a picture of ten Buddha statues on the west side. The scene is very spectacular.
