Learn pottery

I have always been eager to learn pottery, and I can decorate my works at home. Besides, they are the fruits of my own labor. Although these works are worthless, they are all handmade. Two days ago, my mother and I found a pottery studio in the street, and finally had the opportunity to learn pottery. Many ceramic works, including bowls, plates and cans, are displayed on the exhibition shelf of the ceramic studio.

The pottery teacher introduced us to some methods of making pottery. Today, we learned how to make pottery by wire method. He gave us a demonstration, and I rubbed my hands while listening, ready to show my talents.

After listening to the explanation, I began to operate. My mother and I took a piece of clay and made it according to the teacher's instructions. I want to make a bottom plate. First, break off a small piece from the big piece of mud, and keep patting it with your hands. I see that the clay board is about to take shape! Unexpectedly, I accidentally shook my hand and left a few fingerprints on the clay board, so I had to redo it. This time I patted the clay carefully, and the uneven surface of the clay gradually became smooth. Finally, the clay tablet is formed! Now it's time to solve it. I think: circles and squares are too common. What shape should I carve them into? I looked at my mother standing by and was suddenly inspired. Just make a heart-shaped flowerpot for my mother. So, with a knife, I carefully carved a heart-shaped outline on the clay board and gently peeled it off.

It's time to rub the mud strips. The process of rubbing mud strips seems simple, but it is not easy to do! I put the mud on the table and rubbed it repeatedly with my hands. In a short time, mud sticks were formed. Huh? Why is it thick here and thin there? I quickly wiped the thick part more carefully. Looking at it on the table, it is barely passable, but it is still uneven. I wanted to remedy these minor defects, but with a little effort, Dorobou broke in two. It doesn't matter, just study. Ceramic art is an interesting art, and I like it very much. I won't give up. This time I rubbed it slowly according to the teacher's method, and stopped from time to time to see if the mud stick was smooth. Finally wiped a piece of mud. Place the mud bar on the bottom plate along the edge of the bottom plate, and then gently press it by hand to make it completely attached to the mud plate. In this way, I paved the second and third layers of mud strips, and the whole heart-shaped basin was basically completed.

However, just a basin is not very beautiful and needs decoration. I made some decorations out of clay, decorated them on the basin and pressed them carefully with my hands. The teacher also helped me carve some beautiful patterns on the edge of the flowerpot. This flowerpot made by myself has finally taken shape!

Of course, in the end, it has to be fired to get the finished product. Originally, I thought the unfired flowerpot was beautiful, but my mother told me that pottery sculpture is the art of mud and fire. A piece of black mud can only become stronger and more radiant after being burned. The finished products on the display shelf have been fired and turned into beautiful containers. Soil is lifeless, but fire gives them life. Looking at them, I can't help but think that making pottery is the same as being a man. Only experience can achieve great things.
