Introduction to Zhang Hongde's calligraphy
It was in the late 1980s that I really stepped into the door of calligraphy. At that time, he was the editor-in-chief of Youth magazine. One day, when he passed by the gate of the High Court of Hebei Province, he saw a Hong Kong-published publication "Book Spectrum" at a stall selling back-dated books and periodicals. He brushed the thick dust off the cover and read an article about the stages and evolution of "Yan Ti" calligraphy. This paper not only introduces Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy, but also introduces the representative figures and their works of "Yan Ti" calligraphy in various periods, covering almost two thirds of the history of calligraphy. Among them, Yang Ningshi, a great calligrapher of the Five Dynasties, shocked Zhang Hongde with Ten Notes of Lu Hong Caotang. That night, he took a pen and scribbled on the manuscript paper. In the process of scribbling, he felt that his handwriting had completely changed. And it's almost similar after only watching it once. This incident seems to make him discover his potential, gain confidence in his imitation ability and understanding, and have a great enthusiasm for the art of calligraphy, and never put down his brush again. Over the years, he started from Yan Yang, went south to Song Sijia, and then traced back to Wangzhong, and then studied in the Ming and Qing Dynasties during the Republic of China. Later, he made great efforts to study the biography of Jin Wen Zagreb and Wei Bei, and gradually became his own face. More than 20 years have passed, and his real feeling now is that the longer he studies, the harder it is to learn. Only when there are difficulties can there be motivation. Real calligraphers should have their own unique aesthetic structure and calligraphy language. According to this standard, he feels that he is still far from it. Therefore, in the future, we should not give up our reputation, continue to go to the swimming pool, constantly surpass ourselves and reach new heights.
