< p>Origin of characters

Kou, Liushu is a pictographic character, like the shape of a human being. The character "口" in oracle bone inscriptions and bronze inscriptions looks like an open mouth. The small seal script is roughly the same as the bronze script, but the characters are elongated up and down. Official script and regular script use straight and square folds instead of the arc-shaped folds of Xiaozhuan, which does not resemble the shape of a mouth. Its original meaning refers to the mouth. The word "口" in bronze inscriptions is used as a clan character. In ancient Chinese characters, "口" was usually written in two strokes, but by the Han Dynasty, it might have been written in three strokes.

"口" can be used alone or as a radical. It is the radical of "Shuowen", and modern Chinese dictionaries still have the "口" part. Most of the Chinese characters related to "口" come from "口", such as kiss, eat, drink, sing, etc. "Kou" can sometimes also be used as a sound symbol, such as buckle, knock, etc. [4] [5] [6]
