Wang Yachen's Painting Experience

Wang Yachen's oil paintings mainly study European romanticism and impressionism, and also create realistic works. After returning from Europe, he concentrated on reforming Chinese painting. He believes that if Chinese painting wants to enter China, it is necessary to learn western painting. If you come to Chinese painting with the knowledge of western painting, you can at least see the technical proficiency. But he opposed the mix of Chinese and western, so he added: "I have always disapproved of the so-called eclectic painting." It is a misunderstanding to apply photography skills to China's paintings with simple materials. The essence of Chinese painting is simple and clear, and objects are used to express the heart. At the same time, it contains many philosophies, which are not clear to shallow technicians. [Forty Readings] His Chinese paintings are characterized by flowers, birds, fish and insects, which are vivid and colorful, especially the goldfish paintings. 1928, resigned from Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. At the end of the same year, he and his wife Rong went to Marseille, France by boat. During his more than one month in France, Wang Yachen visited many places of interest and art galleries, such as the Louvre, Versailles and Miller's former residence. Everywhere Wang Yachen went, he always kept a diary to record what he saw and heard, as well as his appreciation of works of art, but these dozens of precious materials were lost during the Cultural Revolution. After settling down, Wang Yachen began to work in the Louvre. He likes ancient paintings and impressionist works. Due to economic reasons, he couldn't stay in France for a long time, so he copied it very diligently. * * During my stay in Europe, I copied 3 1 famous paintings and created 60 or 70 paintings, all of which were exhibited back and forth in China and received rave reviews. Besides visiting and copying in Paris, Wang Yachen and his wife also went to Brussels, Berlin, Geneva, Florence and other cities.

After returning from Europe, Wang Yachen began to study Chinese painting again. He once said: "If Chinese painting wants to enter the country, it is necessary to learn western painting. Participating in Chinese painting with the cultivation of western painting skills can at least show the proficiency of technology. " Wang Yachen's participation in western painting is not simply mixed together, but advocated mastery through a comprehensive study to better express Chinese painting. For modern painters, Wang Yachen appreciates the paintings of Xugu, whose high classicality, high coldness and high beauty have a great influence on Acheng, and Wang Yachen is famous for painting goldfish, all of which are related to Xugu.
