Deng Bai’s character profile

Professor Deng Bai has been engaged in art education for 70 years. He is not only an outstanding contemporary art educator, but also a meticulous painter and calligrapher who is famous for his art. The meticulous flowers and birds he created have vivid images, strong and powerful lines, elegant and beautiful colors, and are highly decorative. His creative style originated from the Lingnan School of Painting and has his own personality. Many of his meticulous flower and bird paintings have been handed down. For example, the "Peaceful Spring" screen hanging in the Zhejiang Hall of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the "Bauhinia Picture" presented to the Guangdong Hotel, the "Singing Orioles and Swallows Dance" in the Beijing Hotel, the "Crying Cicadas and Ripe Lychees" in the Overseas Chinese Building in Dongguan, the People's Congress in Beijing "Lingnan Danli" and "Luogang Fragrant Snow" in the Guangdong Hall, "Western Mountain Red Leaves Poetry" in the Chen Yi Memorial Hall in Lezhi, Sichuan, and "Lingnan Spring Message" in the Dongguan Municipal Government Conference Hall are all Mr. Deng Bai's masterpieces. His calligraphy style is unique and presents the melodic beauty of musical art. The porcelain paintings he created, especially the blue and white flower-and-bird porcelain paintings created in the 1960s, are all top-notch in terms of artistic conception, style and technique.

Mr. Deng Bai has profound attainments and outstanding achievements in the field of art history research. He is the author of "Critical Biography of Pan Tianshou", "Pictures and Knowledge", and "Deng Bai Art Collection". He has personally organized relevant personnel to carry out in-depth research and discussion on the history and theory of ceramic art, and has written a large number of high-quality monographs and papers on ceramic art. In order to improve the quality of my country's ceramic art and promote the development of the ceramic industry, it provides a solid theoretical basis. In 1959, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhejiang Longquan Kiln Factory, with the participation and help of experts from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and Zhejiang University such as Deng Bai, successfully produced a batch of exquisite tea sets, tableware, vases, flower pots and other celadon. The products were sent to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing as a tribute to the National Day. In 1962, Zhejiang Longquan celadon production finally officially resumed. Deng Bai's "Double-ring Peony Vase": 32 cm high, with thick fetal bones, full and rich glaze, and a soft green glaze color, like jade. It is known as jade and represents the true color of Longquan kiln celadon. Won the gold medal at the World Art Expo Center: World Ceramic Art Expo. Now collected in: World Collectors Association. The "Celadon Peony Amphora" designed by Deng Bai himself was well received by experts and consumers and was put into mass production.

In 1980, we finally succeeded in firing the famous imitation porcelain from Heguan Kiln in the suburbs of the Southern Song Dynasty. In 1989, the Ministry of Light Industry and the China Ceramic Society officially awarded the Honorary Award for the Scientific Research Achievements in Restoring the Official Kiln of the Southern Song Dynasty; in 1990, the Ministry of Culture awarded the Second Prize for Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievements and recommended that the National Science and Technology Commission include the achievement in the "1990 Major Compilation of scientific and technological achievements. In view of Mr. Deng Bai's outstanding achievements in ceramic art research, in 1980, Mr. Deng Bai was elected as the vice chairman of the National Ceramic Society and the honorary director of the Export Ancient Ceramics Society.

Mr. Deng Bai did not officially retire until he was 86 years old and returned to his hometown of Guancheng. Passed away at 17:05 on August 23, 2003 in Dongguan People's Hospital at the age of 98.
