Appreciation of the Works of the Temple Monument of the City God in Jinyun

Li Yangbing Chenghuang Temple Monument was written in seal script and carved stone in the second year of Ganyuan (759) when Li Yangbing served as the magistrate of Jinyun County. Li Yangbing was famous for his study of seal script in the Tang Dynasty, and he worked hard on seal script. In Song and Zhu Changwen's "Continued Book Break", Li Yangbing's calligraphy, Yan Qiqing and Zhang Xutong were listed as magical products, which was highly praised, and he was known as the first person of seal script after Li Si. Li Yangbing City God Temple Monument is accompanied by Chen Yuanming's article "A glimpse of Li Yangbing's calligraphy achievements and influence from Chuzhou relics": "Now, we should observe the calligraphy of Li Yangbing City God Temple Monument, and we should be disciplined in seal cutting. Although it is as thin as a jade hairpin, it is as heavy as a thousand pounds, like a cone painting sand, and its strength is superior. According to the standard of jade hairpin line, there is no doubt that Li Yangbing Zhiyuan Lisi's calligraphy. This inscription is square and firm in shape, thin and round with a pen, and symmetrical and balanced in words. Although it comes down in one continuous line with Li Si's Xiao Zhuan, it is different in stippling interest. Observing the traces that he tries to get in and out with a pen, his posture becomes smooth and open, which makes him look graceful, and it is also a great change for Qin Zhuan. It can be said that every word is exquisite and perfect, and it is intriguing. The rules are compact and dense, regular and atmospheric, and the splendor is consistent with the weather of the Tang Monument in the prosperous age. "
