Kung fu is outside the words.

I remember when I was about twenty years old, I was particularly obsessed with practicing calligraphy. Immersed in pen and ink every day, lingering for half a day. The more I write, the quieter I become, and the more I like writing.

At that time, there was no teacher to give special guidance. In a word, I just like writing. I like the feeling that my body and mind flow like flowing water with pen and ink, like practicing qigong, and I am on cloud nine.

I am an emotional person, and I pay great attention to my physical and mental feelings. I don't care much about the skill of calligraphy. Although nothing was written in the end, practicing calligraphy made me realize that in order to become a real calligraphy artist, besides excellent basic skills, the most important factor is not practicing calligraphy itself, but to rise from the technical level to the Taoist level to understand and grasp the internal laws of things' development and operation. Constantly strengthen and improve their moral cultivation and humanistic accomplishment, and gradually upgrade from doing something to doing nothing, as the Buddha said to Sharifutsu in the Diamond Sutra: "All sages are different because of doing nothing."

So the real kung fu is outside the words.

In fact, this is not only true for practicing calligraphy, but also for others. Although everything appears in different forms and contents on the surface, its fundamental nature and operation law are consistent, that is, the Tao Te Ching says, "The Tao gives birth to one, two, three and three things." Everything is born in Tao, so the fundamental principle and nature are the same.

As the saying goes, "He who gets the Tao wins the world", the top successful people in all fields in the world are all people who find internal laws and purport in their own fields. They have both technology and methods, where they can do whatever they want and then reach the peak.

Therefore, to do anything, we should not only stay on the surface of things, but also see their essence through the surface of things, and cultivate a pair of "X-ray eyes" that others can't see, so as to achieve better results than others.

So how to cultivate such a pair of perspective eyes? The Taoist classic Neijing tells us the simplest and most effective method: "People can always be quiet, and heaven and earth will be returned."

Is to keep your body and mind awake and quiet from time to time. People are bright because of their brightness, and wise because of their quietness. Therefore, they can observe and understand the real mystery behind complex phenomena, capture the principle of avenue that ordinary people can't perceive, purify and cultivate their body and mind, and achieve multiple goals in one fell swoop.

Tao is the objective law of the operation of things. Only by knowing it, understanding it and using it can you master what you want to do and make your unique taste and characteristics.

The same is true of writing. If you want to write a classic article, besides the most basic writing skills, you should also cultivate your own thoughts and mind, nourish and refine your body and mind with pure, beautiful, noble and nutritious things, and let yourself have a rich, noble and free soul, so that you can really write a good work that touches your heart.

Sharpening a knife is not a mistake for a woodcutter. If you want to fly higher, you will go further. You must be patient, be fully prepared and work hard on words!
