On April 5th, Tomb-Sweeping Day 1983, the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a set of three T84 "Huangdi Mausoleum" stamps, the second of which was named "Temple of Human Ancestors". The reason why it is called "the temple of early human ancestors" stems from the story that Chen Qian, a senior patriotic general of the Kuomintang, wrote a plaque of "early human ancestors" for the Huangdi Mausoleum.
When Chen Qian was studying in Japan in his early years, he met the revolutionary pioneer Sun Yat-sen, joined the League, participated in the Revolution of 1911, and was appreciated by Sun Yat-sen for his repeated meritorious military service. 1937 after the "July 7th" Lugouqiao Incident, Chen Qian did not hesitate to join War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and successively served as commander-in-chief of the First Theater of the Kuomintang and director of the Northwest Battalion. During my stay in Shaanxi, I went to huangling county with Mr. Yu Youren and Mr. Jiang to pay a visit to the Huangdi Mausoleum. All three of them were famous calligraphers at that time, and Chen Qian was the representative of Lishu. At that time, he wrote the plaque of "the ancestor of humanity" for Xuanyuan Temple of Huangdi Mausoleum, which was carved by masons in Fuping County. Due to transportation difficulties, the stone tablet broke when the cart was transported to Jiulishan, huangling county. Lu Renshan, then the county magistrate of huangling county, had to truthfully report to Chen Qian in writing. Soon, Chen Qian wrote back: "When the stone tablet is hit, don't panic. It is difficult to transport, so there is no need to prepare. Please make a wooden plaque and write it in Tomb-Sweeping Day next year. " After reading this letter, Liu Renshan quickly sent someone to buy fine wood and made a wooden plaque three meters long and two meters wide. On April 5th, 1938, Tomb-Sweeping Day and Chen Qian went to the mausoleum as scheduled. Lu county took out Four Treasures of the Study, which had already been prepared, and asked four people to carry the prepared're, dip them in pen and ink, and with a wave of his hand, write down the four official script characters of "the ancestor of mankind".
Up to now, this "ancestor of humanity" plaque is still hanging on the lintel of the main hall of Xuanyuan Temple in Huangdi Mausoleum, blending into many historical landscapes of Huangdi Mausoleum and becoming one of the scenic spots for people to worship and visit the Yellow Emperor. (Wei Puhua)
