Three old hands realize. Anyone who has a dutiful son, a virtuous daughter, a righteous wife, and a bachelor's degree is a civil law style, is flat to show his door and preach good deeds.
In other words, in ancient China, it was a high honor to get a flat watch from the government or the people. Among these plaques, there are plaques that have made important contributions to the people and plaques that maintain feudal ethics. The chastity plaque here is the embodiment of this kind of plaque.
The plaques of chastity, virtue and filial piety are mainly used to praise women or commend virtuous women and martyrs. They are mainly aimed at women who can be faithful or virtuous and filial in ancient times.
This kind of plaque is an expression of warning, exhortation and propaganda for ancient China people to abide by feudal ethics and political norms, such as "filial piety is the mother, filial piety is the son", "filial piety is diligent", "loyalty is Meng Mu" and "filial piety is the order".
This kind of plaque is usually placed at the main entrance of family ancestral temple, or built on some archways.
There is a plaque of "Mother's Day Filial Piety" on the beam of the main entrance of Zhongshan Temple in Huangpi Town, xingning city, Guangdong. This is an inscription for Liu, the daughter-in-law of the local Shi family, and his son Shi.
This plaque is made of wood, 2 meters long, 0.8 meters wide and 0.4 meters in diameter. The inscription was written by Zhu Yunming, one of the four gifted scholars in Wuzhong in Ming Dynasty, in 15 19. The four sides of the plaque are decorated with the moire pattern of golden dragon plate.
In the middle of the plaque, the characters "Mother's Day Filial Piety" are written in regular script. Because of its elegant brushwork, strong rhyme and strong harmony, it is a rare masterpiece in Zhu Yunming's calligraphy art.
It is said that the fourth-generation ancestor of the Shijia family in Huangpi Town died soon after marrying Liu. Liu Yizi Shi, widowed and chaste. He grew up in hard farming and was given books.
Fu Jie studied tirelessly and finally lived up to his mother's expectations. He became famous at a young age. At that time, the magistrate of a county was Zhu Yunming, one of the four gifted scholars in Wuzhong. He admired Fu Jie very much and intended to appoint him as an official, but Fu Jie politely refused him, preferring to stay at home and wait on his mother. Zhu Yunming was impressed by Liu's virtue and filial piety, so he personally wrote the words "Mother's Day, filial piety" to celebrate.
Later, the touching stories of Liu's mother and son were spread all over the world because of Zhu Yunming's recommendation and admired by people.
In China, besides the "Mother's Day Filial Piety" plaque obtained by Liu's mother and son, there are also many chastity filial piety plaques in other places. For example, there is a plaque inscribed by Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty at the Wang Ancestral Hall in the center of Bai Quan Stadium in Dinghai, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province.
This plaque has a gray-black background, and the word "imperial edict" is written in red in the middle and upper part, with the word "Qin Jing" in the middle. On both sides of the plaque, there is a line of mud official script: on the right is "Assistant Minister of the Ministry of War, Governor of Zhejiang Province, Military Affairs Control, Salt Administration in Zhejiang Towns", and on the left is "Yongguantan Bell, written in the thirty-fourth year of Guangxu".
According to Wang's genealogy, the owner of this plaque is Wang Rongcong's wife Chen.
Wang Rongcong was born in February of the lunar calendar 1833. As an adult, he has a son and a daughter. After his wife Chen married Wang Rongcong, she was widowed at the age of 28. At that time, her son Chang Yicai was 4 years old and her daughter was just born. Chen Yixin took care of the family, put up with hardships, brought up his children, got married and became a student of Chinese studies.
When Chen was sixty-five, Emperor Guangxu issued an imperial edict in recognition of Chen's virtue of chastity and gave her this "filial piety" plaque.
In addition, China's chastity plaque is mostly built on the square forehead in the middle of the archway.
