The old writer Nie Gannu once wrote a set of old-style poems about the characters in "Water Margin". Among them, the poem about Lu Zhishen is:
Lu Da
肉 Yu Tu Men Fen Lao Quan, Wutai shaved off his hair and hated practicing Zen.
Marriage is said to end the peach blossom rain,
Children's play turns over the willow smoke.
After the leopard's head is printed with a gold seal,
The wild boar forest lies in front of the house.
Walking around the world with one stick,
Which one is Manjushri or Samantabhadra?
Among the old writers of their generation, they most like to read the old-style poems of Nie Gannu and Duanmu Hongliang. Regarding the characters of Water Margin, I also think of Mr. Mu Hui, a master of essays. He once accepted the invitation of Shanghai People's Publishing House to provide the text for the "Painting Book of 108 Generals of Water Margin" by the painter Ma Ji. Although the writing is simple, it is extremely exciting. For example, "Lu Zhishen":
Looking at people from a secular point of view, Lu Zhishen can be described as a "flower monk" who "became a monk in the organization, but was not a monk in thought". However, Li Zhuowu, who hated fake Taoism, could see at a glance that those bald donkeys who eat fasting and chant Buddha's words as "monk coquettish" are fake monks. They "look good on the outside, but they have no Buddhist nature." "Lu Zhishen drank wine, beat people, and did everything, but his Buddha nature was complete." Therefore, he included dozens of "Buddha" characters in the description of "Lu Zhishen's Trouble in Mount Wutai".
It is a pity that Maki suddenly died of illness in a hotel during the trip before finishing this series of articles. It is sad!
