The Original Text and Translation of Song Feng Geji

The original and translation of Song Feng Geji are as follows:

I. Original text

Rain, wind, dew and thunder are all outside the sky. Rain and dew are tangible, birds of a feather flock together. Thunder can't be seen and heard, but so can the wind. The wind cannot speak for itself, but it is attached to things and sounds. If it is not thunder, it will fall into nothingness. Only those who are attached to things are sound, so their sound follows things, and their size is clear, gratifying and embarrassing, and they are born with the shape of things.

2, earth and stone, although not attached to the sound; The valley is big and the sound is strong; Water swings and is soft, and its sound rings. None of them can be combined, which is frightening and thrilling. Therefore, it is unique among vegetation. Among the vegetation, the one with the largest leaf is suffocating; Leaves are sad; The weak leaves, their voices are timid but not exciting. Therefore, those who are suitable for the wind are like pine.

3. Gaisong is a thing, dry and upright, with thin and long leaves, bizarre and embarrassing, chic and sparse, exquisite. Therefore, after the wind has passed, it is not excited, and it is clear and smooth, with a natural sound. Therefore, listening to it can relieve troubles, cleanse filth, make people relaxed and happy, not feel lonely, enjoy space and walk with nature. It is appropriate for people who are comfortable in the mountains to enjoy it without violating it. ?

4, the golden rooster peak, there are three pines, I don't know its hundreds of years. The breeze blows it, and the sound is like a dark spring rustling away the stone wrasse; A little bigger, just like playing elegant music; When the wind is strong, it is like a wave, like a drum, and the rhythm is weak. The ark was built under an artificial pavilion called Songfeng Pavilion. If you have tasted it, you will forget it.

Second, translation.

Rain, wind, dew and thunder all come from the sky. Rain and dew are tangible, and everything grows on them. Thunder can't be seen and heard, and so can only the wind. The wind itself can't make a sound, but it sticks to objects to make a sound, unlike thunder roaring in an empty place. It is precisely because the wind adheres to objects and makes sounds that its sound depends entirely on the objects.

2. The size and turbidity can change with the shape of the object. The loud sound of the object is small, the voiced sound of the object is clear, the solid object has no sound, and the empty object has a loud sound. The earth and stone are solid and heavy, so it can't make a sound; The valley is empty, so the sound is high; The water is soft, so it is surging.

3. None of these sounds can keep a gentle and peaceful state, so people feel frightened and scared after hearing them. Therefore, only vegetation is most suitable for wind making. In the vegetation, the sound of big leaves is muffled; The sound of dead leaves, sad and sad; The soft sound of leaves is very weak. So the most suitable plant for the wind is pine. ?

4. There are three ancient pine trees on Jinji Peak; This tree is hundreds of years old! A slight gust of wind blows, which sounds as beautiful as clear mountain springs and gurgling streams; The wind is a little stronger, and it blows like a decent tune; When a strong wind suddenly strikes, it sounds like rising waves and surging drums, one after another.
