How to catch wild turtles along the northern Yellow River?

Soft-shelled turtle began to feed above the water temperature 15℃, and the food intake at night was higher than that during the day, mainly small animals, such as snails, shrimps, mussels, earthworms and so on. And plant foods, such as watermelon skin, cucumber, soybean, wheat and so on. When the water temperature drops below 10℃, it hibernates underwater.

To catch turtles, we must first understand the water situation and turtle situation and know whether there are turtles in this water area. There are three methods: 1. Observe and find out whether there are footprints left by turtles crawling on the shore. 2. Observe carefully whether there is a glans above the water. When turtles breathe with their lungs, they often need to put their little heads out of the water for air, usually once every 20-30 minutes. The higher the temperature, the more times they surface, and sometimes their heads appear motionless. If these bubbles move according to a certain rule, it means that the tortoise is crawling underwater. From the number and movement direction of tiny bubbles, we can judge the size and action route of the tortoise. As long as any of the above signs are found in this water area, it means that turtles come to fish in this water area.

Temperature and season of turtle fishing: turtle is a temperature-changing animal. It needs a high temperature to feed, with the lowest temperature above 15 degrees, while the tortoise is still active at temperatures above 40 degrees. The prime time for turtle fishing is around the wheat harvest in Henan. Of course, the best fishing time will be different in different regions. In the whole golden time of turtle fishing, the bite rate of turtle in rainy weather is higher than that in sunny and sunny nights.

If divided by season, summer and early autumn are good seasons for turtle fishing, and June _ _ August is prime time.

1. Choice of fishing spots: Generally speaking, the water at the bottom of sediment is the place where turtles like to live. Water with grass growing or rocks piled up at the bottom of the water is not convenient for it to move, prey and hide. Therefore, the waters at the bottom of sediments should be chosen as fishing spots. Whether anglers can catch soft-shelled turtles in a new fishing ground depends on their own exploration and observation, in addition to consulting others. They must learn to observe and master the law of turtle activities and find the places where turtles often appear as fishing spots.

Two. General fishing method

Manual fishing:

This fishing method has the same nature as the common fishing method of crucian carp and carp. It only requires that the rod body of turtle fishing should be hard, the fishing line should use thick nylon line with a diameter of 0.3 ~ 0.5 mm, and the brain line should preferably use multi-strand soft line or thin metal line to prevent being bitten by turtles, and the drift can be larger. The hook can be a single hook or a double hook, preferably a medium-sized hook with a long handle. The bait can be earthworm, fresh shrimp meat and pig liver. Turtles are very careful when eating, smelling, scratching with their mouths or probing. When playing with bait, it is not easy to swallow it with your mouth open. At this time, the drift information is a gentle vibration up and down. Fishermen should not rush to lift their poles, but must wait patiently. When the turtle's appetite is combined, it will immediately swallow the bait and pull it out of the water, so it will definitely lift the pole.

(2) Throwing rod fishing:

Use single hook, double hook or string hook to catch the lower water. After the bait hook was dropped, the line was tightened and the turtle ate it. The reaction force of the club head is not great, and it is often that the club head bends slowly and then returns slowly. When this happens continuously, you can catch it by lifting the pole hard, which is foolproof.

(3) Pile-inserting fishing method:

Pile-inserting fishing method is suitable for night fishing. Turtles are timid, afraid of light and like to be quiet, so the dead of night is a good opportunity for turtles to feed. The catch rate at this time is higher than during the day.

Take 20~30 small bamboo poles with a length of about 1 m as fishing rods, tie a fishing line with a length of 5 ~ 8m at the top end, and hook each fishing line with 1~3 hooks, and hang the bait. The end of the fishing line is equipped with a moderate lead weight, so that the fishing line can be thrown without tension. This can ensure that all the bait hooks fall to the bottom and throw the bait hooks.

Choose the waters with frequent turtle activities, and insert a bamboo pole every 8 meters along the coast. After inserting the pole into the shore and fixing it, throw the bait hook into the water, usually in the evening and early morning. This fishing method is very effective in the season when turtles are active.

Interestingly, some big turtles don't try their best to run to the deep water after being hooked, but climb ashore and struggle hard until they pull up the fishing rod and run away with it. If it is found early, it can be tracked and captured on the shore.

(4) Straight hook fishing method:

Fishing soft-shelled turtle with straight hook (fishing needle) can often get good results.

Straight hook fishing tackle is very simple. It only needs to prepare 10~20 winding plates or hard metal beverage cans, the same number of one-foot-long hard bamboo piles or wooden pegs, and steel wire straight hooks with a diameter of 0.8 ~1.0 mm. The straight hooks can be made by themselves: the steel wire is cut into sections with a length of 2~2.5cm, and both ends are polished on walking stones.

When fishing, use fresh pig liver as bait. Cut the pork liver into small quadrangular prisms one inch long and 3mm wide, so as to wrap the fishing needle. When feeding, horizontally pierce one end of the needle from the midpoint of the liver, then rotate the needle by 90 degrees and push the needle connection line along the central axis of the liver strip until the needle tip at the other end reaches the midpoint of the liver strip. Conversely, puncture the other half of the needle along the central axis of the liver strip in the same way to make the midpoint of the needle sum.

In order to facilitate bait throwing, a small pendant can be added at the place 10~ 15cm away from the hook. After throwing into the fishing spot, tie the fishing line firmly to a hard bamboo tip pile or a wooden stake inserted on the shore. Baits can be matched far and near. Piles can also be sparse or dense, as the case may be.

When the fishing line suddenly tightens or relaxes, it should be pulled up in time. At this time, the fish needle eaten by the turtle will be horizontally stuck in the turtle's mouth or esophagus, and it is difficult to escape.

(5) Hooking methods of several common baits:

1. Pig liver: the best bait for turtle fishing. Its smell is very attractive to turtles. Because of the different hooks used, there are two kinds of bait loading methods: one is the general hook loading method, and the other is the straight hook bait loading method (which has been introduced in the straight hook fishing method and will not be repeated here). No matter which bait is hooked, we should pay attention to whether it is cut into liver strips or liver cubes.

2. Earthworms can be hooked as a whole, and the hook tip can penetrate the fishing line from the head, and the hook tip can be exposed or not.

3. Insect-catching hook method: take insects as bait, and the hook tip pierces the tail end from the top. If the hook is big and the worm is small, you can use several hooks. When you hook with a dragonfly, you must first cut off the wings and part of the tail. Then pierce the hook tip from the tail and expose it from the chest, or pierce it from the chest and bury it in the tail. Use small fish as bait, use small fish heads or cut off the middle part to hook. mantis

There are two ways to use the viscera of small animals as bait, such as chicken and duck intestines. One method is to hook the raw chicken and duck intestines: wash the feces in the intestines, cut them into 7-8 cm sections, put one end on the hook, wrap the rest around the hook for three or four times, and then stick the other end on the hook tip for fixation. Another way is to soak the intestines in boiling water first.

Three. preventive measure

(1) After being caught, turtles often cling to the bottom of the water and confront fishermen. At this time, the fishing line should be tightened, and it must not be pulled hard. If you persist for a long time, you will be released. At this time, you can immediately close the line and hang it to the shore in one breath. If the turtle is big or not firmly hung, you can copy the net and take it out.

(2) When the tortoise is carried ashore, its head will retract into its shell. How to decouple? Generally speaking, turtles leave the ground with fishing lines. After a pause, it will slowly stick its head out. You can quickly lay it flat on the ground, step on it with your feet, hold your neck with one hand and untie it with the other. If the swallowing hook is too deep, you can unhook it with a unhooker.

(3) After the hook is removed, don't put the turtle into the fish protector, lest it break the fish protector and escape. It should be put in a cloth bag with a tight mouth. You can also make a hole in the turtle's skirt and tie it with a rope.

(4) Because turtles are timid, they should be careful when eating. When fishing, don't make any noise and don't get too close to the shore. It's best to hide. Otherwise, it will affect the catch.
