The so-called sincere people in the original text do not deceive themselves. If it stinks, if it's lewd, it's called modesty. Therefore, a gentleman must be cautious and independent.
Honesty means not deceiving yourself. Don't deceive yourself like you hate dirty and smelly, and don't deceive yourself like you love beautiful women. This is called making yourself satisfied with yourself. Therefore, a gentleman (in order to satisfy himself) will definitely face his heart alone.
