Divert one's melancholy

Tang Dynasty: Luo Yin

A person has a chance to sing, otherwise, it is stopped, and sadness and hatred are completely ignored.

If you get drunk today, you will worry about your troubles tomorrow.

Sing or give up at the first opportunity, and it will be very happy to completely ignore your own sadness. Drink as drunk as a fiddler if you have wine today, and worry if you have something on your mind tomorrow.

Creation background

Luo Yin lived in a society with extremely corrupt politics in the late Tang Dynasty, and his career was bumpy. He made ten moves to become a scholar, but he didn't pay attention to them. He turned his progress into resentment, regarded his fame as a cloud of smoke, often exposed the ugliness of reality with a resentful mood and sharp pen, criticized political corruption and expressed his resentment. Self-Dispatch is one of the most famous poems.

This poem has successfully created a vivid image of a man who is addicted to alcohol. Although this image has a decadent side after political frustration, people admire its cynical character.
