Su Dongpo wrote this poem and began to recite it over and over again. He was so satisfied with it that he suddenly remembered his good friend Fo Yin Jackson. He thought that if Zen master Fo Yin saw this poem written by him, he would be amazed. So he immediately copied the poem, sealed it with an envelope, and asked his servant to send it to Guizong Temple to teach it to Jackson Fo Yin himself.
Huangzhou is on the north bank of the Yangtze River, but Guizong Temple is on the south bank of the Yangtze River. To reach Guizong Temple on the south bank, we need to cross the river, so let's study the content of this poem together while the servants are crossing the river by boat. "kowtowing" means paying homage, and "heaven is heaven" means that heaven is respected, and Buddha is more respected by heaven, so Buddha is called heaven in heaven.
"A thousand lights shine on a thousand worlds" means that the Buddha's light shines on three thousand worlds. A solar system has many planets to form a small world, and a thousand small worlds can be combined into a Hanazono Sakura world. Only a thousand penny worlds can synthesize a medium thousand worlds. A thousand worlds can be combined into one world.
"Eight winds can't blow" is a touching poem, the center of the poem and the most important. "Eight Winds" refers to weighing, mocking, destroying, reputation, interests, decline, suffering and happiness; "Great Wisdom" said: "Profit, decline, ruin, reputation, fame, ridicule, suffering and pleasure; Obedience and disobedience can stimulate animal feelings. "
These eight kinds are the sum of success or failure in life. Praise, fame and fortune, all kinds of happy and beautiful enjoyment will make everyone intoxicated; Ordinary people, whenever they encounter these beautiful things, will feel unknowable for this! In case of sarcasm and slander, he is angry; However, in the face of suffering and distress, I am depressed and worried.
This is also human nature. But there is such a person who can hardly touch the eight winds. Who is this man? He is our Buddha.
"Sitting on the purple lotus" means that the Buddha's doubts are exhausted and all virtues are ready, so he can sit solemnly and steadily on the lotus platform without being shaken by foreign things. This poem is praising the Buddha, and at the same time it implies that the author has this extraordinary artistic conception: like the Buddha, he can have no distractions and barter things. -Su Dongpo is really a very clever man.
At that time, the servant had already landed, and he went to Guizong Temple in Lushan Mountain. Jackson Fo Yin received the letterhead and opened it. When he read this poem, he did not praise it as much as Su Dongpo expected, or was amazed. Instead, I think it should be stimulated and hit. So, he wrote two striking characters "Fart" at the bottom of the poem, and taught the servant to take it back to Huangzhou and give it to Su Dongpu.
In Su Dongpo, Huangzhou, after he went to the servant, he was complacent and waited for the servant's reply. He was full of hope. When Fo Yin saw this poem, he would appreciate it very much, so he dropped everything and waited for the good news from his servant. Finally, he waited for the news brought back by his servant, so he asked eagerly, "What did Jackson Fo Yin see?"
The servant replied, "He didn't say anything? Just write a few words at the bottom of your poem and let me take the letter back to you. I can't read, so I can't understand what it says. " The servant said, handing the letter to Su Dongpo;
He opened the envelope and took out the poem letter. When he saw the word "fart" written at the bottom of the poem, a nameless fire rose in his heart. The fire was as high as 3,000 feet, and he was furious! Shouting "How dare you?" So he carefully read and scrutinized his poems, but no matter what they read and scrutinized, they just couldn't find out what was wrong with them.
So I blamed Zen master Fo Yin: "I wrote such a good poem, but you don't know how to appreciate it. It's really stupid to think of it as a fart! " Therefore, he decided to have a debate with Zen master Fo Yin himself, so he rented a boat to cross the river and went to Guizong Temple.
Su Dongpo's boat is heading south, and he is sitting on the plank. Although the river breeze blows gently at the moment, he still can't calm his restless heart, like an ant on hot bricks, but he can't be as cheerful as he was when he visited Chibi last time, so he sang the famous sentence "The breeze is Xu Lai, and the waves are calm."
When Su Dongpo came to Guizong Temple, he was very angry and found Fo Yin Jackson. Unexpectedly, Jackson Fo Yin has told the room attendant, "There are no visitors today." Su Dongpo heard that not seeing the guests was like adding fuel to the fire, and he couldn't hold back his anger any longer! He ran desperately to the Zen master's meditation room in Fo Yin.
Seeing that the door of the meditation room was left unlocked, he was about to raise his hand and knock on the door, only to find a note posted on the door panel, which solemnly read: "Eight winds can't blow, a fart will pass Jiang Lai." Seeing these two sentences, he quickly became alert and silently thought, "I was wrong!" " "So, what's wrong with Su Dongpo?
Fo Yin, the Zen master, warned him: "You said you could be moved by anything that was ridiculed and slandered, so why are you so angry with my' fart' and have to cross the river to explain it to me?"
This time, Su Dongpo was deeply ashamed and lamented that he always thought he could understand Buddhism thoroughly, but he never thought that it was not enough to understand the secular world, but he lacked real practice. When he is in a bad mood, he will not achieve a harmonious mood like today. He is no different from others.
It is impossible to learn Buddhist knowledge without using or practicing! So he immediately made up his mind that from now on, all the Buddhism he understood should be put into practice in daily life. At the same time, he is very grateful to Fo Yin for his inspiration. He thinks it is great luck to have such a friend! After that, he believed in Jackson Fo Yin even more.
Extended data
The eight styles in Buddhism refer to eight emotions that affect people's mood: gain, loss, slander, praise, ridicule, worry and joy. Man is an emotional animal. It is almost impossible not to move when you meet the eight winds, and you may never practice it. Some people think that the eight winds will not move. I think they are overconfident and arrogant.
In interpersonal communication, you can often meet people who are arrogant and aggressive, as if they know everything and can do anything. I often make self-righteous mistakes, and even sometimes I am unreasonable and cunning. It is too difficult to be calm and empathetic.
As the saying goes, "rationality is not high." Looking back, the reason why people "talk loudly" in the debate is not only because of their lack of self-cultivation, but I think "talk loudly" is to cover up their inner weakness, and what is hidden behind arrogance is actually self-distrust.
Practice is not only verbal, but more importantly practical. It's easier said than done. You may understand the truth of "don't rejoice in things, don't grieve for yourself", and you may want to put aside gains and losses, honor and disgrace, but how many people can really do it in reality? If you do something, you need to be praised by others. If you are beaten, you will be very depressed. If you get some achievements, you will be complacent. ...
As we all know, modesty makes people progress and pride makes people lag behind. If we are always arrogant and conceited, we will fall into a closed position of narcissism and self-appreciation, and we will become ignorant and enterprising frogs in the well.
Full loss, little gain. Since the congress, people have become opinionated, and arrogance can also lead to various prejudices. Arrogant people often do things according to the habits that have already been formed, and it is easy to stick to the rules.
The only way for us to keep pace with the times is to live and learn. What we need is an "empty cup mentality". In work, study and life, we should learn to vent ourselves. The more empty we are, the more we gain.
In front of flowers and applause, we should see the gap; In the face of difficulties and setbacks, we should not lose confidence. This is maturity and progress.
