Li Yu (August, 93715-August, 978 13), whose real name was Shi Guang, was born in Jinling (now Nanjing, Jiangsu) and was the last monarch of the Southern Tang Dynasty. The world called it Li Houzhu, Queen of the Southern Tang Dynasty.

In 96 1 year, Li Yu succeeded to the throne, respecting the Song Dynasty as orthodox. In 97 1 year, Song Taizu destroyed the southern Han Dynasty, and Li Yu changed his name to "Lord of the South of the Yangtze River" except the Tang Dynasty. In 975 AD, Li Yu was defeated by the Song Dynasty, captured to Bianjing (now Kaifeng, Henan Province), and was named General Youwei and an imperial army.

In 978, Li Yu died in Bianjing, and was posthumously awarded as a surname and prince of Wu. Li Yu is versatile, especially good at words. After the national subjugation, his ci has a wide range of themes and profound meanings, which is unique among the five pronouns in the late Tang Dynasty and has a far-reaching influence on the later ci circles.
