The green leaves are light and the beans are even, and the rouge is thick with wax.
It's a pity that spring comes frequently, leaving flowers exposed, and a drop becomes red.

Layers of leaves grow between the new branches of begonia, and the little buds hidden in them glow a little red.
Be sure to cherish your heart, don't bloom easily, let the peach blossom fan bloom in the spring of spring breeze!
Yuan Haowen's two poems about begonia were written in his seclusion in his hometown in his later years. There is a love for flowers and children between the lines.
Both poems are written from the green leaves, and both focus on the description and chanting of flower buds, but there are similarities and differences, and each has its own emphasis. The first poem focuses on the bright and dazzling colors of unopened begonia, and the so-called "wax mark rouge is new" gives birth to its cordial reminder of diligent observance of "flower tip dew"; The second song focuses on rendering the meaning of the unopened begonia "small buds hide deep", giving birth to a sincere warning to cherish your heart and not to spit lightly.
When the bud of begonia flower is not released, the bud is dark red, such as rouge. Yuan Haowen's first poem captured this feature of unopened begonia and wrote: "Green leaves are light and beans are even, rouge is thick and wax." Begonia buds are as uniform as beans, and the green leaves are gently covered. Begonia buds are deep red as rouge and fresh as wax marks. The author compares the bud of begonia flower to "bean", "rouge" and "wax mark", which is full of love.
"It's a pity that spring is diligent, and the flowers are exposed and red." This is the author's cordial exhortation after describing the unopened begonia with subjective colors, so that it can seriously keep the dew on the flower tip and don't let the crimson color drip with the dew. Yao Li in the Song Dynasty said: "Begonia" has five flowers, which are extremely red at first, such as rouge; And open, and then gradually become dizzy; If it falls, it is light powder. "Here, what the author said to the begonia flower is not so much to let her cherish the deep red color as to let it cherish the beautiful time when it wants to let go and cherish the budding spring.
Yuan Haowen's second quatrain seems to be related to the first one and relatively independent. The language of this article is more concise and profound.
"There is a lot of new green between the branches, and there are several red dots hidden in the buds." The newly grown green leaves overlap among the branches, and small buds are hidden in them, with a few scarlet spots faintly visible. The word "deep hiding" vividly humanizes the bud of begonia, and also plays a role in connecting the past with the future in poetic structure. It not only takes care of the first sentence of "new green weight", but also leads to the expression of subjective feelings in the last two sentences: "Don't spit lightly, teach peaches and plums to be spring breeze." "Heart" refers to the fragrant stamen, and also implies the talent and wisdom of people. These two poems are entrusted to the immature begonia, and also admonished to the children endowed with begonia, warning them not to spit out their hearts easily, not to be eager for quick success and instant benefit, so that the people of Li Tao can compete for fame and fortune in the DPRK and the market. At this time, Yuan Haowen, although his mind gradually relaxed in his later years, still had ardent hopes for his children. Strict father's affection can be seen here: he gave his children to Haitang, educated them by singing flowers, and cared for his father.
