1960, Huang Lao was transferred from China Peking Opera Theatre to teach in a drama academy. I am only 13 years old. Huang Lao left a deep impression on me: she always tidies up from top to bottom; In class, she speaks softly and kindly, never speaks ill of her students or loses her temper. When teaching drama, Huang Lao took great pains and was patient and meticulous.
My first teacher was Luo Yuping, and the first play was The Interpretation of Women. Teacher Yu Yuheng also taught me Wu Jiapo and Cosmic Front. Then maybe 196 1 or 1962 entered Huang Lao's class, and learned from her in succession, such as Yu Tang Chun, Drunk Lady, Da Deng Dian, Beijing-Taiwan Association, Four Lang Visiting Mother and so on. However, it is this song "Yu Tang Chun" that I will never forget!
First, only a master who teaches drama can be so meticulous.
Huang Lao's Yu Tang Chun was written by Mr. Shang Xiaoyun, so many places are different from other ways. For example, when Su San starred in Xipi Class Three, Huang Lao sang very powerfully and straightly. I think, although the feeling of singing the role will be slightly insufficient, it can firmly grasp the audience, so it is very refreshing. Another example is Su San's Adagio Xipi: "A madam bought slaves at the age of seven." Generally speaking, drag cavity is a bar, and Huang Lao is about a bar and a half. After Susan "goes out", the general performance method is to take the exit door, while Huang Lao takes the entrance door. In order to show Susan's feeling of deja vu in the middle, she turned around and tried to identify it. There are still some places in Huang Lao's "Yu Tang Chun" that can reflect her original ideas. For example, Liu Bingyi said to the officers, "Come and see-".Susan usually raised her left leg to face Liu Bingyi, but Huang Lao felt that the actress exposed the outer thigh to the audience, which was not slim and unsightly. So, she replaced the raised leg with the inner right leg, and tried to twist her waist to the right, buckle her right leg to the left, and her hands and right foot trembled slightly. Because there are many differences in Huang Lao's "Yu Tang Chun", and she taught it very carefully, I still remember it vividly.
After Su San's "Bored Curtain" and "Bitter Wow-",Huang Lao will tell us carefully where the eyes for the first time come from: we should take care of the audience in all directions, slide our eyes from right to left, then turn our heads to a small angle and center them, and then make a fixed appearance. She also asked Susan to sing a song [Xipi Class 3], "Scared me, scared me and cold", with her hands and feet shaking slightly to describe Susan's nervous mood before she appeared in court. When Susan sang "Ah-Bye Dad", how did her waist and feet cooperate? How to match the waist and feet [big gong crying head]? How to lift your feet in tandem and how to put them down? How to side waist? Huang Lao will give us a detailed explanation. After Susan "dug the door", she made another request: when she turned and snuggled up in the corner of the hall, her figure should feel shy and timid. How does Susan "enter" and "go out"? How to kneel down? Which leg kneels first and which leg kneels later? Huang Lao also made it clear. When she sees a classmate kneeling on tiptoe, she will gently remind them: "get down!" The usual performance method is to hide your face and cry, but she asked us to add a small stamping action to the rhythm of singing to shape Susan's lightly chastising feelings towards Wang Jinlong at this time.
There are many other subtleties in this novel "Yu Tang Chun", and Huang Lao will give us a patient explanation and careful demonstration. Now I often think: Huang Lao was definitely a famous actress and a famous teacher at that time, but she was a master. She taught drama so clearly, clearly and thoroughly. Only a master who teaches drama can be so meticulous!
Second, the unique skills of Huang Lao
Huang Lao's "Yu Tang Chun" has a unique skill. The other Susan put her little lock down her right earlobe from her head before playing, but Huang Lao didn't. Her little hair is worn on her head. When Liu Bingyi said to the officers, "Come, look at the rope-",at this critical juncture, Huang Lao showed off her unique stunt-Su Sanyi's stalk head and threw the rope as a token. At the same time, I knelt down and took a "small jump", lying sideways on the ground, and then singing the unique stunt of "Xipi Huilong" and "Adult" Huang Lao. It is difficult to complete the "small jump" while kneeling, and it is also necessary to cooperate with the action of "throwing hair". Although there is a difference between "throwing hair" and "jumping", they are naturally ironed and blended together, vividly depicting Susan's panic when she heard that the examiner was going to impose criminal law on her after being tortured and knowing her pain. Another value of this stunt is that it shows the emotional world of the characters with refreshing stage skills, which can be described as originality. I just listened to Huang Lao's description of her unique skills and didn't appreciate it with my own eyes. I don't think Huang Lao can prove it, because she was nearly sixty years old at that time. But I believe that the play "Yu Tang Chun", which she staged when she was young, will be applauded by the audience once she shows her unique skills. This should also be an example of Huang Lao's performance of "literary drama and martial arts singing" in Yu Tang Chun.
Third, "The song" Yu Tang Chun "she taught is my father's original taste!"
Mr Shang Changchun is the eldest son of Mr Shang Xiaoyun. In the early 1980s, he lived in Beijing for a period of time before being transferred from Jiamusi Peking Opera Troupe to China Opera Academy to teach. At that time, I was already a teacher with teaching experience 10 years or so. In a teaching demonstration performance, I once again staged Professor Huang Lao's "Yu Tang Chun". Shortly after the play was finished, Mr. Shang found my lover and asked, "Who did Mr. Chen learn this play" Yu Tang Chun "from?" "I learned from Huang Yongni and Huang Lao." Minghua replied. Mr. Shang was very excited: "No wonder, she learned this play from my father. No one in the current Shangpai disciples can present the play so completely and truly. Teacher Chen is the first one! " Minghua said at once, "You praised me, but Huang Lao taught me very carefully." Teacher Shang was very emotional: "The song" Yu Tang Chun "she taught is my father's original taste! In addition, I'd like to ask Mr. Chen to tell my eldest daughter Shang Huimin about this play ... "
Unfortunately, because Shang Huimin was in the Armed Police Art Troupe at that time, he might not be able to come to me to study drama. I only recorded the singing tape of Yu Tang Chun for her, so Mr. Shang Changchun's wish didn't come true in the end.
Huang Lao not only taught me the play "Yu Tang Chun", but also made me understand a truth: I must teach my students the most authentic play. At that time, the gentlemen of Chinese opera knew a lot of plays, but they didn't teach much. They all taught us their best scripts. For example, in other Tsing Yi operas, Cosmic Front must be taught by teacher Yu Yuheng, and Feng Haichao and Strange Couples must be taught by teacher Li Xiangyun. In Wusheng's business, it must be that teacher Fu Lan teaches Shi Xiu and Eight Hammer, teacher Qian Fuchuan teaches centipede ridge, teacher Fu Dewei teaches Tielongshan, and teacher Zhao Yafeng teaches Maehara Mountain ... This is also a true portrayal of their artistic ethics, lofty professional ethics and rigorous teaching style.
