Rice planthoppers belong to the family Planthoppers of the order Homoptera. There are three main types of damage to rice: brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper and gray planthopper. The more serious damage is caused by brown planthopper and white-backed planthopper. In the early stage of early rice, white-backed planthopper is the main cause, and in the later stage, brown planthopper is the main cause. In the middle and late rice stage, brown planthopper is the main cause. The main method to prevent and control rice planthoppers is to clear weeds on the edges of fields and ditches before harvesting early rice.
