The customs of Basha in Basha Village

Basha means abundant vegetation in the Miao language. This village is a pure Miao village with 16 village groups in 5 villages and 371 households with a population of 2,061. The whole village still retains rich ancient heritage and ancient production methods. The men there have buns on their heads, wear self-woven green cloth clothes with no collar and right slits and copper buttons, and green cloth trousers with large straight legs. They carry swords on their waists and gunpowder guns on their shoulders all year round. They look like warriors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. A friend has advised me more than once that you should go to Basha and have a look. There, you can appreciate the long historical accumulation, primitive and mysterious folk customs, honest and simple folk customs and splendid folk culture.

You can see the village from a distance. It seems so quiet and tranquil. Among the green mountains and beautiful waters, wooden buildings with stilts are dotted in rows and rows. The water wheel in the corner of the village is turning leisurely, and the sound of weaving and grinding is heard. The sound of wood and cockcrows come and go, making people feel as if they are gradually entering Tao Qian's poetic realm.

The village is built on a mountain. According to the slope, wooden railing-style stilt buildings with western ethnic characteristics are erected. From a high place, you can see the rows of bark roofs that are already covered with green moss. There is no chimney on the roof. At noon in winter, misty green smoke steams out from the bark roof of every house. It is a mixture of firewood smoke and steam. Therefore, the faint blue mist is like white velvet, covering the village warmly. Above, it is warm, peaceful, and picturesque. Tall wooden rafts are erected in the open spaces of the village and on the hillsides. They are gathered or scattered, sparsely or densely erected. They are the villagers' rice drying racks. During the harvest season, farmers bundle the rice and hang bunches on the wooden rafts. Above, this is a scene of a good harvest, with rice fences spread out everywhere, making the autumn day even more golden. You don’t have to worry about losing the rice when you hang it by the village. This is a simple folk custom.

Basha Miao Village is one of the first batch of tourist attractions developed in Congjiang County. Under the correct leadership of the Congjiang County Party Committee and County People's Government and the strong support of all levels and departments, after the implementation of the Basha Village Asphalt Road in 2003, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Basha has increased year by year, while bringing benefits to farmers.

It is reflected in the following aspects:
