The flowers are blooming, the mangroves are singing, and the grass is growing and the egrets are flying across the lake.
The weather is sunny and people are in good spirits, and the boats are returning home with flutes and drums at sunset.
This poem describes the poet's joyful mood while boating on the lake, intoxicated by the bright spring scenery on both sides of the river.
The first two sentences focus on the scenery.
The phrase "the flowers are in bloom and the mangroves are in chaos and the orioles are chirping" atmospherically highlights the renewed and vibrant scene of West Lake in spring. The "flowers blooming" make the tree look dazzlingly red, indicating that the season for visiting the lake is when spring is in full swing. At the same time, it also echoes the title of the poem from a visual perspective, indicating that the viewer is "on the lake". "Crying of orioles" further enhances the warm atmosphere of spring in terms of auditory effects. The word "Luan" is used very well here. It not only vividly depicts the one after another bird song coming from the depths of the red forest, but also shows the movement of the orioles flying up and down and shuttling among the branches in the forest. This movement and silence add a bit of charm to the spring scene. The poet uses red as the keynote, which is romantic and has strong emotions, and touches bright and lively yellow to form a bright and eye-catching warm tone, which creates an exciting and uplifting mood and successfully completes the rendering of the atmosphere of the picture.
If "the flowers are blooming, the mangroves are in chaos and the orioles are chirping" are compared to the middle ground of a painting, then the sentence "the grass grows on the flat lake and the egrets fly" is the distant ground of the painting. The poet looked far into the distance and saw only the same color of water and sky. The grass was lush and green in the distance, the blue waves of the lake nearby were stunning, and a few egrets on the sandbank were flying and landing contentedly. The main color here is the green of nature, embellished with some plain white, forming a cooler tone, giving people a peaceful and fresh feeling. What is very different from the heavy brushwork of the first sentence is that the poet here uses the artistic technique of understatement to create an indifferent beauty of artistic conception. Of course, this is not inconsistent with the warm atmosphere in front, but just the right adjustment and supplement in color and mood. They together constitute a harmonious and moving spring scene. Su Shi once described the beautiful scenery of West Lake with the poem "Heavy makeup and light makeup are always suitable", which can be used to annotate these two poems.
The last two sentences focus on lyricism.
The sentence "The weather is sunny and people are happy" has the characteristics of colloquialism and is catchy to read. The poet uses a direct way to express his feelings and expresses the joyful mood of people who visit the lake to enjoy the spring. The mangroves, orioles, green grass, egrets, the boat, and the green water of the lake are all filled with the spirit of spring, and the warm sunshine and gentle spring breeze naturally make people feel good. "Good intentions" was triggered by the scenery the poet saw on the boat. It is a narration of the leisurely mood of spring outings, so it is the main thread that runs through the poem.
The sentence "Several boats returning with flutes and drums at sunset" follows the previous sentence with a twist, leading the reader's thoughts back to the lake, closely following the title of the poem, and stopping at the end in time, and the writing is clean and neat. This sentence is the essence of the whole poem, and the charm and artistic conception of the poem are hidden in it. The "sunset" points out that tourists' spring viewing has been extended into the evening. The music of "Xiao and Drum" still echoes on the lake, indicating that the tourists on the boat still have unfinished entertainment. There are two explanations for "Several boats returning": one is that, looking at the beautiful sunset, smelling the fragrant flowers on both sides of the bank, and listening to the music of the flutes and drums on the boats, although the boats will eventually leave, there is still a peaceful atmosphere. The deep attachment has been left on the lake. The other is, in this picturesque scenery, how many cruise ships playing flutes and drums can stay on the lake? The question obviously contains the poet's implicit meaning.
The first two sentences of this poem describe the bustling scenery of West Lake in spring: flowers are blooming, clusters are like trees, orioles are singing happily, grass grows on the shore, the lake is calm, and egrets are flying, which outlines a picture Spring scenery of West Lake. The last two sentences go from the scenery to the people. The tourists went boating to enjoy themselves and were immersed in the scenery of the lake and mountains. They wrote about the grand occasion of visiting the West Lake in the Southern Song Dynasty. This little poem about spring outing breaks the Song Dynasty's emphasis on theory and interest over interest, and creates a beautiful artistic conception. It uses atmosphere, color, and picture contrast to give people a beautiful enjoyment.
