"Fo Yin Zen Master" is a title given by Song Shenzong who praised his Taoist style. Fo Yin Zen Master was revered as the master of Fo Yin by later generations.
The communication between Zen master Fo Yin and Su Shi was recorded in the Answers to the Quotations of Fo Yin, a Buddhist in Dongpo, and became a literati anecdote widely circulated for thousands of years.
On one occasion, Su Shi and Zen master Fo Yin visited Yangzhou Slender West Lake, and Fo Yin suddenly threw his fan into the river.
On that sector, there happened to be a poem by Dongpo layman (Su Shi called "Dongpo layman"), and he smiled and pointed it out to Su Dongpo:
"The poem of flowing water Dongpo (corpse)."
Su Shi knew that this was a difficult problem in Fo Yin, so he set his sights on the other side of the river. There is a dog gnawing at a bone on the shore. He immediately replied:
"Dogs gnaw at the river (monk) bones!"
"Bones" are connected, which is really good. Two people glances, can't help laughing at the same time.
Although Fo Yin became a monk, it was "the wine and meat crossed the intestines, and the Buddha paid attention to it".
On one occasion, Fo Yin cooked fried fish and drank wine, but Su Shi happened to visit and hurriedly hid the fish under his cloak.
In fact, Su Shi had already smelled the fish. He deliberately didn't discover it, but asked Fo Yin:
"What's the next sentence for Changchun in Xiangyang?"
Fo Yin a listen to is an ordinary couple, then blurt out:
"Accumulating good people is more than just celebrating."
Fo Yin this bottom can be just in the meter of Su Shi, Su Shi clap your hands and say with smile:
"Since Qing is more than fish, accumulate some goodness and enjoy it."
Fo Yin had no choice but to let Su Shi "eat for nothing".
Fo Yin and Su Shi became close friends. Even the little novice monk around me has an unusual lower ear.
Once, a little novice monk used a pair of wonderful pairs to make Sue, a great scholar, speechless.
One day, Su Shi came to visit Fo Yin at Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang. It happened that Master was not here, and only a little novice monk who swept the floor came to open the door for Su Shi.
Su Shi didn't see Fo Yin after taking the door, so he asked the little disciple:
"Where is the bald donkey?"
Su Shi and Fo Yin are used to teasing each other. At this time, it is just a casual joke. Unexpectedly, the little novice monk disliked his disrespect for the master and choked back Su Da's witty words:
"Dongpo eats grass."
Su Shi was taken aback at first, and then burst out laughing.
Little monk, this sentence is wonderful. On the surface, it means that the donkey is eating grass on Dongpo, but in fact it means that Su Dongpo is eating grass. This is calling Su Shi a donkey!
After laughing, Su Shi shyly touched his head to show his rudeness.
