Why is Wang Xizhi respected as a "book saint" by later generations?

Wang Xizhi was a painter and great calligrapher in Jin Dynasty. Taking Zhong You and Zhang Zhi as examples, he mainly devoted himself to official script and cursive script. Later, he carefully studied the styles of other calligraphers, learned from others, and skillfully used different brushstrokes to innovate, turning the simple calligraphy style into a beautiful and convenient style.

According to legend, when Wang Xizhi practiced calligraphy, he turned a pool of clear water into "ink". This shows his efforts. At first, Wang Xizhi practiced calligraphy by imitating others. He practiced very hard, but he made no progress. One night, he fell asleep and kept writing in his dream. He woke his wife up because there was nowhere else to write on her back. His wife said angrily, "You have your body, why do you have to use mine!" " This sentence reminded Wang Xizhi that he no longer imitated others blindly, but created a font at will. Therefore, many famous works have been left for later generations, such as Preface to Lanting, On Le Yi, Huang Tingjing, Ode to Dong Fangshuo and Seventeen Posts. Among them, Preface to Lanting is his representative work and the earliest representative work of Chinese characters.

Wang Xizhi is obsessed with the art of calligraphy and works hard, which is known all over the world. He himself was also honored as a "book saint" by later generations.

Preface to Lanting was written by Wang Xizhi when he was drunk. Every word is powerful, beautiful and outstanding. After he woke up, he rewrote dozens of books, but none of them were as good as the original.

Wang Xianzhi, the son of Wang Xizhi, studied with his father when he was a child, and later with Zhang Zhixue. He often uses more than one word at a time, creating a new style and calling himself "Er Ya" with his father.
