The back hall of Maitreya Buddha is a statue of Wei Tuo, with its back facing the gate and facing the Hall of Ursa Major. Wei Tuo is the patron saint of Buddhism. He is wearing armor, holding the mountain in his right hand, pressing the magic pestle in his left hand, trimming his eyebrows and eyes, and his lips are tight and powerful. The second hall is the Hall of Great Heroes, which means "only greatness and strength" in Buddhist scriptures. In the hall, Buddha Sakyamuni enshrined a golden lotus statue. Sakyamuni was the son of King Sakyamuni of the Sakyamuni tribe in India (now Nepal) in the late 6th century BC, commonly known as Gautama and named Siddhartha. Siddhartha thought deeply because of the social turmoil at that time and all kinds of pains and troubles of people's birth, illness and death, so he became a monk and sought liberation. After six years of asceticism and suffering, and finally after seven days and seven nights of meditation, I finally realized my great sleep and became a Buddha. Look at this pair of couplets on the doorpost: "Teach and perform three times, and take photos of each road;" The teachings have been passed down through the ages, and all beings have proved Bodhi. "'Samadha' is three ways and means for Buddhism to guide and educate all beings to achieve liberation. Generally speaking, "Wen Sheng", "Jue Yuan" and "Bodhisattva" are called "three times" and "sound smell", which is the lowest root of Buddhism and Taoism, breaking the confusion of thinking and leading to nirvana. "Fate" means that no teacher has been observing the karma bodhisattva since enlightenment, that is, "Bodhisattva", which saves all beings by Buddhism and Taoism. The "three times" here can be summarized as: he feels-consciously-feels his three realms. The whole meaning is: to guide and educate all beings on the road of enlightenment through three ways of Buddhism, so as to achieve the goal of liberation. Please look at this couplet: "the autumn moon is clear and clear, and the mountain wind roars for five nights;" "Bodhisattva clears the way, and it rains like a palace for thousands of years." The first couplet refers to the fearless voice of Mount Emei when the autumn moon is bright and the wind is like Buddha at midnight, such as the roar of a lion. In the second link, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra preached scriptures to four disciples at Mount Emei (Elephant Palace), opening the road to enlightenment and boasting. There is also a couplet: "The dragon returns to the throne to listen to auspicious melody, and the crane soothes the spirit with pine smoke." It is the best explanation for the horizontal plaque of the mountain gate "Crane stays in the clouds and returns".
The left niche of Sakyamuni Buddha is a golden manjusri statue painted in clay sculpture. Manjusri is called "Manjusri", which means wonderful virtue and good luck. He is the head of many bodhisattvas and the embodiment of wisdom, and often cooperates with Sakyamuni to preach Buddhism. Serve the bodhisattvas on the left and right sides of Sakyamuni Buddha with Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. This couplet is an evaluation of him: "the wisdom mirror hangs high, casting rain and dew;" Smart lights look after group machines. "The word" wisdom "is embedded in the couplet, which means that Manjusri Bodhisattva moistens all beings with wisdom. The right niche is the golden lotus statue of Tibetan Bodhisattva. The Buddha's Brahma name is "Beggar Bersha", which is translated into Tibetan Buddhism. According to the Buddhist scriptures, the Tibetan Bodhisattva was entrusted by Sakyamuni Buddha to keep the world after the death of Sakyamuni Buddha and before the birth of Maitreya Buddha, to educate all sentient beings and free all sentient beings, hungry ghosts and beasts who fell into hell. He swore: "Hell is not empty, and I will never become a Buddha. "This pair of couplets is to praise his great spirit of determination to get rid of sinking:" The sacred wish is grand and deep, and he wants to clear his sin; If you are lost, it is difficult to teach you to indulge in negative kindness. "
There are eighteen arhats in the left and right compartments of the temple. Lohan is a disciple of Buddha's enlightenment, and eighteen Lohan is an accompanying disciple of Sakyamuni Buddha. The statue of Amitabha in the back niche, also known as "Receiving Buddha" and "Infinite Life Buddha", is the leader of the western paradise. Climbing up the stone steps is the third hall, the Seven Buddhas Hall. Please look at this couplet first: "Merit surpasses Ganges, Seven Treasures are solemn in the world;" The peak of the layer is Mohan, and the three-story building is beautiful in Kunlun. "What is' merit'? This is a good thing. " Ganges is the abbreviation of Ganges sand, and Qibao generally refers to gold, silver, glass, agate, amber and coral. "This refers to precious materials." Universe ",Buddhism refers to the whole universe" Han Xiao "refers to the equality of Xiao Yun and Tianhe" means brothers, and "Kunlun" means Karakorum Mountain. The whole meaning is: beautify the whole world with extremely precious materials and noble methods, and its merits exceed the number of sands in the Ganges River in India; The big E, the second E and the third E are both majestic and beautiful, with layers of peaks towering into the sky, comparable to the majestic Kunlun Mountain.
There are seven buddhas enshrined in the temple, one of which is Sakyamuni Buddha, and the other six are past buddhas. From right to left, there are no Sun Buddha, Muny Buddha, Gaya Buddha, Vishnu Buddha, corpse abandoned Buddha and corpse Buddha in the south. This shaping process of seven buddha is called "Maskless Shaping". Firstly, the blank mold is shaped, then colored, then coated with hemp, dried, removed and finally colored. It has the characteristics of light weight, moisture resistance, moth prevention, no cracking and long storage time. This reflects the exquisite plastic arts in ancient China. Seven buddha sat cross-legged on the lotus platform, with a well-proportioned and solemn posture. At first glance, it seems that they are all the same shape. On closer inspection, their expressions are different and lifelike. In Buddhist statues, we also attach great importance to the depiction and shaping of hands. There are all kinds of hand gestures, which are called "impressions" in Buddhism. Look at Sakyamuni Buddha, raise your right hand to your chest, intertwine your thumb with your middle finger, and stretch the other three fingers naturally. This handprint symbolizes the Buddha's saying, which is called "saying seal". The other six Buddhas put their hands on their backs in front of their stomachs, their right hands on their left hands, and their thumbs are connected. This kind of handprint means "meditation" and makes the heart stable, which is called "legal seal". The posture, gestures and facial expressions all reflect the perfection and supremacy of Buddha's wisdom, personality and morality. A friend asked, what does the "kid" under the seven buddha Lotus mean? There are two explanations for this: First, the Lotus Pagoda is also called "Mount Kumgang" or "Mount Sumi", which means that the Buddha's throne is as tall and solid as "Mount Sumi" (the legendary mountain name in ancient India), and it is shaped as "King Kong Lux" with strong muscles and ferocious face, which has a deterrent effect on evil; Secondly, when Sakyamuni Buddha passed the "Six Paths", the rescued hungry ghosts all squatted under the King Kong seat to listen to the protective seat in order to repay the kindness of the Buddha.
There is also a Zen couplet here: "The tree opens an epiphyllum, three buddhas, and the benevolent shines on the other side; Emei has long buds, seven Buddha statues, and compassion for the people receives hundreds of millions of bodhi. " "Castanopsis" means "Bodhi Tree", and "Epiphyllum" means "Xiaoye", which belongs to the genus Ficus, and here refers to auspicious flowers. "III Buddha" is the past, present and future III Buddha. "The other shore" means "Nirvana", that is, Buddhists are dead. According to Buddhism, a person includes two parts: body and soul. Those who achieve positive results will never die, but will go to another world-the western paradise. "Lingya" refers to spiritual flowers and trees. "Tathagata", that is, "true as", refers to the "absolute truth" that the Buddha said. That is to follow this principle to achieve Buddha's consciousness. "Take in", the Buddha takes in all beings with compassion. "Bodhi" means enlightenment. The whole meaning is: the bodhi tree is in auspicious flowers, and the light of compassion of Buddha III shines on all sentient beings in the world and reaches the realm of bliss together; Emei has spiritual plants, and the seven Tathagata have collected hundreds of millions of sentient beings with compassion to help them realize the Tao. There are four wooden screens of seven buddha hanging on the left wall. It is a book written by Huang Tingjian, a poet and calligrapher in the Northern Song Dynasty. It is a precious cultural relic. On the left is the "Yincui Building" with a horizontal plaque inscribed by 1935 Emei Chiang Kai-shek, and the guest room on the right is called "Waiting for the Moon Mountain Room".
After the Seven Buddhas Hall, Guanyin Bodhisattva was the main statue, and a group of statues were created by combining historical stories and folk culture. Guanyin, also known as Guanyin, together with Bodhisattva, is the threatening Bodhisattva of Amitabha. According to Buddhist scriptures, avalokitesvara can manifest many incarnations, saying that it can save all beings. Look at Yang holding the branch in his right hand, standing on the faucet with his left hand leaning over the bottle, and the golden couple floating on the lotus leaf. Next to Golden Boy is Zhao Zilong wrapped in a costume, and next to him is the King of Soochow with a pipa and a sword. Next to the Jade Girl is Guan Yunchang with a beautiful beard. Next to her is the king of the west and the north, holding an umbrella and a snake. In addition, there are "Lohan Khufu" and "Pu Gong picking herbs", the highest point of which is "Tang Priest's Master and Apprentice Learning from the Scriptures". There is also a niche on the right side of the group image, dedicated to the lotus statue of the pharmacist Buddha carved by white marble. The pharmacist Buddha, also known as the Great Doctor King, is the leader of the "Oriental Pure Glass World". According to legend, when he became a Buddha, he made twelve wishes, wishing to eliminate the suffering of all sentient beings, cure the ignorant chronic diseases and make all sentient beings feel comfortable physically and mentally.
Under the Seven Buddha Hall stands a fourteen-story (about seven meters) copper Huayan Tower, which was cast in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. There are 4700 small Buddha statues and the full text of Hua Yan Jing cast on the tower. The Buddha statue is lifelike and the handwriting is clearly visible. It is the largest existing copper tower in China. There is also a 2.4-meter-high Yongle porcelain Buddha in the temple, which was fired in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. There are many little dragons on the Buddha, and each little dragon has a little golden Buddha, each with its own demeanor. In addition, there is Amin Jiajing Bell weighing 2500 Jin. The last temple is Fukenji. For bodhisattva samantabhadra. Samantabhadra means "Samantabhadra" in Sanskrit, which means universal goodness. Pu Xian is also known as the "King of Great Wishes" because of his extensive practice of "Ten Wishes". "Willing" is an ideal and "doing" is a practice. Emei Mountain is the Dojo of Samantabhadra, so it is dedicated to the last temple. The door of the temple reads: "Jin Su is solemn and is the residence of the Bodhisattva; Epiphyllum shines brilliantly on the love of Chengzi. " It means that the temple decorated with golden yellow is the residence of Pu Xian; The brilliant brilliance of Euonymus fortunei shines with Zen master's love for Buddha. There is also a couplet: "Puji is affectionate, may the king be merciful and ask Emei for the truth;" Virtue is boundless, all beings look forward to it, and the soul is empty to realize Zen. "Part One is the reason why Samantabhadra Bodhisattva left compassion in Emei Mountain and generally helped all living beings to seek liberation. The second couplet is the infinite merit of all beings to pay tribute to the Bodhisattva, and feel the quiet and calm state of mind of meditation when they are free and quiet. Above Fukenji is the "Scripture Collection Building", where the scriptures are stored.
Walking down the stone steps of Pu Xian Hall, the right side of the Seven Buddhas Hall is the Emei Mountain Buddhist Association, and further down on the right side is the Ursa Major Hall, which is a newly-built "Yuan Tan" and a place to receive Buddhist groups and give lectures at home and abroad. Through the round door of the partition wall, there is the "Flower Shadow Pavilion", which has a pool pavilion and precious flowers and trees. Step into it, tired and clear, calm and stable. Before stepping out of Maitreya Temple, the newly-built bell tower and French logistics hub in 1993 are on the left, and the Drum Tower and tea garden are on the right.
