During the Republic of China, he did business in Xi 'an and was also a cultural person. Besides playing abacus well, Bao Tong also wrote beautiful calligraphy. In Xi city at that time, he also made some friends in the calligraphy circle.
One of them also loves calligraphy and often comes to Zhang Laohan's shop for tea and chat. After a while, they became very good friends. That ternary man is ten years older than Zhang Laohan. I heard that his surname is Yu and he works in the provincial capital. He often gives his calligraphy exercises to Bao Tong. In this way, the two had been in contact for several years, and Zhang Laohan kept many "calligraphy exercises" written by friends with fishing surnames on rice paper.
In the next four years, Zhang Laohan cleaned up the shop and stopped doing business. He went back to his hometown and heard that his surname was "Yu? Our friends also went to other places. Because the old man Bao Tong writes a good hand, he is a "waste to be revived" in the village. At that time, because the author built a new house, he asked the old man to write a plaque for the gate, so he and Bao Tong became friends who talked about everything.
In a chat, Zhang Laohan inadvertently revealed the past with "a friend named Sanyuanyu" decades ago and told me that he still had more than a dozen copybooks written by his friends. Bao Tong's old man died later, and this matter has passed. It was not until the end of 1990s, more than 20 years later, when I saw the news that "Yu Youren's Calligraphy Works" was auctioned in Guardian (Hongkong), China, that the author had a brainwave and suddenly remembered Bao Tong's old friend "Yu". Could it be Yu Youren?
Later, I asked the descendants of Lao Tong if his father's calligraphy posts were still there. His son told me that when his father died, he had burned the clothes and the writing paper left behind. Then ask me, why? What's the use? I gave a wry smile and said, "You may have burned the baby?" . After listening to my words, his son also regretted it, complaining that he and his wife were uneducated and did a terrible stupid thing.
