Wei Shaowu (1886-1982), courtesy name Hongfa, was a native of Gangu County. He successively served as the principal of the Gansu Army Military Academy, chief of staff of the Gansu Military Governor's Office and commander of the provincial garrison. After liberation, he served as consultant to the Gansu Provincial Government and was a well-known calligrapher. He is a famous patriotic democrat and an excellent calligrapher. It went through three periods: the Manchu Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, and New China. He has been active in the political arena of the Republic of China for a long time. He served as Chairman of Ningxia Province and Director of the Department of Construction and other important positions in the Republic of China. After liberation, he served as a member of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a librarian of the Museum of Culture and History. He lived to be 98 years old. His life has been inseparable from calligraphy. His calligraphy style is ancient, unique and self-contained. And can compose poetry. It occupies a place in the modern Chinese calligraphy world. The author has a very solid writing skills, unique charm, and is self-contained. All pens and inks are also of the highest quality. The author has been obsessed with calligraphy all his life, and also studied painting in his later years. After his death, the Gansu First Calligraphy Association held a "Remaining Ink Exhibition". An Jiyue, vice president of the Provincial Calligraphy Association, wrote a preface of tens of thousands of words for the exhibition. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, many of the author's works were circulated, and almost all of his early works were lost. The fact that this work has been handed down to this day is even more precious. It plays a great role in studying the political culture of the Republic of China.
