The foundation of lifelong learners

Growing up together in the book club-Reading and Sharing Day 39

Lifelong learning ability RIA:

R: lifelong learning is not difficult.

All knowledge and memory belong to physiological phenomena, which are stored in neurons and neural channels of the brain. The brain is not static, but plastic and changeable, and can reorganize itself with each new task.

If you want to grow for life, please think like an expert. Why do you say that? As far as learning is concerned, some people aim at grades, while others aim at learning. The former's efforts are to prove their abilities, while the latter's efforts are to learn new knowledge or skills.

People who pursue achievement will unconsciously limit their potential. If you care about proving or demonstrating your ability, you will choose those challenges that you are confident to overcome and want to be smart in front of others, so you will repeat what you are good at over and over again.

However, the goal is to improve one's ability, so one will choose more and more difficult challenges and interpret setbacks as useful information, so as to concentrate, be more creative and work harder.

The method of memory training is mentioned in the book. Psychological training can improve self-confidence in learning. It is suggested to combine the methods in "Use your head" and comprehensively use skills.

The last chapter of this book provides different learning strategies for students, professionals, teachers and trainers. I won't go into details, but remember that the big principle is: retrieval practice. Through continuous retrieval, complex data can also be integrated with people, and fragmentary concepts can also be integrated into mental models, which can be easily obtained after familiarity. Through repeated use, the brain will organize knowledge and perception into "blocks", and it becomes a natural habit to recall and use these behaviors.

I: Studying hard will change the brain, establish new connections for the brain and expand your abilities. If you want to master one thing or reach a professional level, you don't need superman's genes at all, but you must be self-disciplined, brave and persistent. What we do determines who we are and what we are capable of doing. As long as you maintain a growth state, you can benefit for life.

A 1: since I learned speed reading, I now practice opening books every day. I have deeply felt that the execution of learning is more important than skills. A little deliberate practice, repeatedly applying calligraphy to different books, thinking from different angles. Constantly try to disassemble the combined practice of calligraphy to improve thinking efficiency.

A2: Take apart calligraphy and study deeply.

1. Look at how others open books, compare their own methods, and check for leaks.

2. Add mind map as an auxiliary means to improve memory and summary ability.
